Room temp in Hawai`i is just about never 70*. I bottle condition in an apt size reffer. I set each bottle in a six pack container. I have only had one bomb in the past 5 years and the cardboard held it in place.
I always use cold brewed coffee and add to the bottling bucket at a rate of 8 qz to 2 gallons. I'm thinking of upping it. If you add to bottling bucket taste till you figure out how much you want to use.
There is some base Malt that can be used to color red. Forget it's name, but here in Hawai`i it costs $3 a pound. Much cheaper to use a "touch" or dark malts.
I never filter my ales. I do get very clear by fermenting 3-4 weeks for simple brews. Sometimes I cold crash but not for a long time here are two brews. One cold crashed the other not. Pretty much look the same to me.
I'm pushing 75 and I have one ale (either home brewed or store bought craft) everyday w/1/2 a cigar. Around 1130 pm I have the other and a shot of some good whiskey. I hike twice a week covering minimum of 6 miles each time r/t. Sometimes we have an elevation gain of 2000 feet in say 1/2...
LOL Just checked my LHBS and they are selling US 05 30 cents less than MidWest. LOL And that price had to include the shipping to Hawai`i for the brew shop owner.
