BIAB brew stand with hoist and pump

Thanks for the compliments. It's really not tippy especially with weight on the stand. If you're worried about it just make the entire stand a little wider and offset the burner and pot. This would allow the hoist to be over the wheels.

BIAB brew stand with hoist and pump

I recently sold my Brutus and decided to go BIAB for a smaller footprint and easier brewing. I like to brew in the garage, driveway or patio so being able to move it around without worrying about a pulley system in the ceiling was a must. I decided to incorporate a small 600# boat winch to...

Brutus 10 single tier complete brewery

Lack of space is pushing me to go BIAB. I'm building a 20-25 gallon single kettle setup. I'll miss the Brutus but I'll also have room for a fermentation chamber now.

Dry equivalent for Thames Valley/Essex yeasts

I'm subbing WLP023 Burton Ale yeast for the 1275 in my next batch. The LHBS recommended 023 as a good sub for 1275.

Cincinnati Ohio - Bulk Grain Buy

From what I've heard Listerman will do a bulk buy just about any time there is demand. Brewtensils (Belmont Party Supply) in Dayton just had a group buy a couple weeks ago. They seem to do it a couple times a year. They had 2 row pale for $35 for a 50# sack. Not too bad, Marris Otter was...

    Welded Keggle still leaking?

Home Depot and Lowes don't carry the 1/2" NPT tap. Check Sears or maybe even Harbor Freight. I found a 1/4" NPT at Lowes but no 1/2"

    New Kettle!

I wish the 62qt Bayou didn't have the bead rolled around the upper lip. I had to cut two slits to get my false bottoms into the pots. I love the straight sides of your new kettle.

    Want: Corny Kegs

I was lucky that they are only 45 minutes away so I picked up my 4. The one owner was telling me they had access to almost 60,000 corny kegs. Most are pin lock that they convert to ball lock if thats what you want. Excellent guys and in my opinion great prices. I'm sure they would cut you a...

    Keggle or Penrose?

If cheap is the desire I'd say keggle may be the best bet. I know I bought 15gl Bayou Classic pots and then made my own false bottoms, dip tubes, welded all fittings for the ball valves and returns and honestly it seemed cheaper than a Blichman or the like but it was still quite expensive. The...

Temp probe falls out of thermowell?

That gets me thinking that an airlock stopper would work. Even a drilled one if I just put some silicone or something in the hole to hold the probe wire in the stopper. The stopper should cram into the npt pretty snuggly. I think I'll try that, only a few cents if it doesn't work.
