    conical fermenters

I have no need to transfer with pressure. I just pick it up by the handles and set it on the counter or a chair. The lid seals for me. I guess you could..... No pressure relief, so once it reaches its limit something has to go... Hopefully the lid gasket. David

Window A/C Fermentation Chamber in basement

I use my bedroom. Its small and I ferment in there. I crank it during the day when I am at work and turn it off when I go to sleep. I can keep beer around 67* f with this method. It would hardly work (run the compressor) at all in a little box. $98 unit new.

    Yeast Washing Illustrated

I put as much water as stuff I have collected. If I get 8 oz of beer/yeast, I add 8oz boiled and cooled water and stir. The yeast falls out in an hour or less. I then suck it out with a turkey baster and put it in the small jars. I then top up with boiled and cooled water so there is minimal...

    Exploring "no chill" brewing

SO I have had some wort in a cube for a month now. Can I get botulism? Been thinking about that. Do I gotta dump it? David

No Chill: Transfering Hot Wort to Cube???

I have a ball valve on my kettle and use the plain ol vynel hose from the hardware store. It won't do well with bends in it, but it does get the wort into the cube. If the line is straight from your copper racking tube to the cube I think it will be fine. I have been wanting to get some...

    OG overkill! Dilute?

I would ferment it unless you are a stickler about getting 10 full gallons of beer. I would still just ferment it. Lots of o2 and a big starter.... David :)

What to do with new sanke keg

First I use the 1/2 keg to go to town and get water for the beer. Then its the HLT, then after sparge it becomes the fermenter. I can do a step mashed with a 1/4 keg as a mash ton. I just put it on my brew stand. Be sure to STIR the whole time the flame is on. I can cram 21 or 22 lbs of...

    Safale US-05's alcohol tolerance?

You could use 2 packages. It would be a big starter for a big beer. David :)

Three cheers for SWMBOs who like beer!

I brew for my girlfriend. What more could you ask for? My first batch in a long time turned out to be a "lambic" because I didn't clean the 9 year old kegs good enough. She said it was good..... Things have improved tremendously since. David :)

    Stir bar issue

Don't use the switch, just turn the speed down till it stops. Turn it up slowly so the magnet and wort can keep up. Watch the magnet with water in the flask or jug. Its a great tool so far. I have only one batch with it, but the ferment was sexplosive. David

    Stir bar issue

So can ya boil the stir bar? I would like to, but don't, especially on an electric stove. David

    conical fermenters

I am thinking about another one. I Emailed him about a week ago. More will be available in early sept. Send him a message from Ebone. I still brew 11 gallon batches, so I guess I need another one. :) David

Please help!! Is it fermenting or ruined??

Unless you dis something really bad, you will have beer. I can't tell the quality, but I bet you will love it when its finally done. David :)

    Yeast Washing Illustrated

I'm thinkin I'm hooked. I have enough yeast for a year.... 14 jars total, 3 different kinds of yeast... I went to 4 oz jars for the space. :mug:

    The good old days

I found my recipe book from 1992. It sure brought back memories. Extract and bottles. Now its grain, farming yeast, kegs..... Pounds of hops.... David The Happy brewer
