Good Article about growing hops and tools of the trade

I married into a family that used to grow a lot of hops in the Willamette Valley in Oregon. After my wife's grandfather passed away her grandmother switched into the nursery wholesale shrub business, but her uncle still makes a hoe specifically for hop growers by hand. I have one myself, used it...

How To Make A Beer Crate For 12oz Beer Bottles

I just made 3 of these, for abut 4.66 + tax a piece can't beat it! used some old cardboard for dividers and the bottle are held snug. Also added some small tabs using scraps that allow them to be stacked securely. If I had a chop saw mine would be a lot prettier, but close enough for beer!

    Help with Keggle Decision...

Today I got 3 used beer kegs for $75 off of craigslist (screaming deal I think). I have a straight sided AB keg, a barrel shaped Coors keg and a 13 gal Guinness keg (awesome). I am trying to figure out which keg to use and what to do with the others. I plan on doing BIAB after a few extract...

    Garbage can fermentation chamber

I am using my Plasma TV box (42") and a space heater with a thermostat I picked up at Lowes for 29.99. I put a blanket over the top of the box and even with it being 30-40 in my garage the thick cardboard and blanket does a good job of insulating! I can keep it at 65 on up with little heat input...

    New Brewer From Missouri

Thanks for the insight guys. I would be moving the beers separate from my belongings as the gov't hires movers to move military members stuff. I guess I'll just have to wait till florida to brew, I am just really eager to start as I have been wanting to do this for over a year but stupid Iraq...

    New Brewer From Missouri

Thanks, I will try that. My truck has a cover over the bed and a rubber mat so they can hang out in the dark, the winter weather ought to keep the temps at a reasonable level as well. The only reason I had thought about moving with a secondary is I know a guy who moved from NC to WA with 2 beers...

Hi, I am new to brewing but have been reading this site for the last 7 months. I was deployed (USAF Civil Engineer) and have been spending a lot of time reading and getting my initial brewing set up to what fits best. I have a 30qt turkey fryer (39.99 Home Depot today!), Midwest supplies...
