    Mash PH question.

Beersmith does good with the mineral additions. Lactic acid, he advises too high.

Announcing 'Mash Made Easy', a mash pH adjustment assistant

I entered into MME, Bru'n Water and Beersmith. All were really close before the acid addition. (Beersmith is notoriously high and I know not to use their acid recommendations) MME has 4.11 lactic, Bru'n Water has 5.1 and Beersmith 6.6. I'll use your acid recommendation and see how it works...

How many of you do short boils?

I recently switched to a 30 minute boil. I just double my bittering hops and everything has worked out well

    Watermelon Wheat Recipe

I use 6.6 lbs in a five gallon batch. This year I will puree it and add to the fermenter after about 4 days.

BeerSmith 3: Here it comes. Thoughts?

Beersmith uses Dihydrate calcium chloride. Perhaps you have selected anhydrous in Bru'n water. In the comments, Martin explains why he defaults to anhydrous.

How to change the estimated mash efficiency on BeerSmith

I had the same question a few years back, here was the answer The mash efficiency is essentially calculated back from the brewhouse efficiency. BeerSmith uses brewhouse efficiency instead of mash efficiency to estimate gravities. See this article for a further explanation...

BeerSmith 3: Here it comes. Thoughts?

You can view and edit your cloud recipes in the desktop. I don't think there is a way to make one update and have it update in different folders.

BeerSmith 3: Here it comes. Thoughts?

You right click and copy to cloud. Same with searching. Put in the search criteria, find a recipe and copy to a folder.

BeerSmith 3: Here it comes. Thoughts?

I was a beta tester and the UI is greatly improved. I also liked the easy interaction with the cloud.

Help Needed with the Water Chemistry (part 3)

When you calibrated, did it take forever also? I'm wondering if there might be an issue with the probe.

    When to cryo hop?

I've used them in whirlpool and dry hop. Like was mentioned, they are twice as strong, so plan accordingly.

    Strawberry "cream" ale input

I make a strawberry cream ale. I add the strawberry puree at about day 4 of fermentation. I may try lactose this year, have used malto dextrine in the past for the mouth feel.

Has anyone vacuum sealed yeast slurry? Is it too hard on the yeast?

Look forward to seeing how this turns out.

    PBW vs Oxyclean

I've used both and they work well. People will freak out that you get non fragrance Oxyclean, but I've never seen any issues with the fragrant kind.
