Safety question for you technical types

It will *probably* be just fine, depending on the type of burner. If it's one of those simple cast ring burners, the flames will usually just blow out if you over-pressure it. Of course, that leaves gas flowing which is a concern, but you won't melt the burner or anything like that.

    Tri-Clover Inline Thermowell

With a little inspiration from Boerderij_Kabouter I started working on a Tri-clover thermowell and here's the result: This is an inline Tri-Clover thermowell that's only about 2.5" long and has a 3/8" thermowell TIG welded into the liquid stream. Price is $36.95 and includes 1...

    Disapointed in this Turkey Fryer

There might be a problem with the safety valve in your propane tank. Sometimes the OPD valve gets locked up and it just trickles propane. try leaving the tank sitting upright, disconnected, for a while. Then gently pick it up and give it a solid wrap against the ground to drop that ball...

    Need Help With Temperature Controls

With a Ranco, Love or Johnson controller will allow a window A/C to get down to lagering no problem at all.

    UV sanitation

I had a UV unit for my reef aquarium. It seemed to work. I could see hanging it in a fermenter before transferring wort, but then it there was a shadow, you'd have no protection.

    Boil in Conical

I've thought about this. I thought about a ring-shaped burner with jets focused on the cone. I thought it would actually be kind of efficient since the heat wash would have to ride across the cone and up. My main purpose was just as you described, dropping the trub out and maintaining a...

    Do not order from stir-plate.com

Thank you very much and no apology needed. I'm sure you weren't thinking of my little business when you came across the info. Thanks for the effort to straighten it out and really thanks for the heads up! Thanks to everyone for the support. I admit I'm slightly distraught that a such a...

    Do not order from stir-plate.com

FWIW, When i designed my stir plate, I played a lot with PWM circuits. The problem is it is difficult to get a fan type motor to respond well to a frequency range outside of our audible range of 20-20Khz. So every design I played with created an annoying hum and/or whine. I don't know that...

WOW !!!! M-effer! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Do not confuse this ass-hat with me and my stirplates.com website!! When I scanned the message title my heart skipped a beat wondering who out there had a problem with an order and didn't give me an opportunity to make it right. He even 'borrowed'...

who could drill my kettle hole

+1 on all counts.. (hehehe) Anyway, yeah, slow and steady and try not to le tthe bit spin without removing metal as that can work harden the area. One recommendation not mentioned is to tape the pot lid in place with duct tape. Even though you're drilling near the base where there is...

Stainless wall thickness for Brutus 10?

One of our club members has an aluminum stand and he's building a new one out of SS. The problem is the thing conducts heat so well that every last corner of that thing gets hot! I can't tell you how many times he's made a skin donation to that thing. Now maybe with SS heat shields and...

Whirlpool port in my brew kettle and a March pump Q

That's cool! I used a 1/2" X 3/8" reducer to get a higher velocity flow on the one I made. works like a charm.

Lost inhibitions, got a sanke. Now what?

Yeah, if you're only doing small batches a big fermenter doesn't make all that much sense and a full volume boil will improve your beer. However, if you leave it intact for a while at least your options will be open in the future. You can always batch like the big breweries do as well...

    Laminating or paneling a keezer

Very nice job! Metal would be better as mentioned. I wouldn't use wood if you can help it. One thing not mentioned is it is possible to have the condenser coils on the bottom as well, so look there too.

    custom length garden hoses?

Actually Lowes & Homer Depot carry some great fittings that use a lock collar instead of a hose barb. Anyway, buy a long garden hose and a few hose menders.

Anyone get sick as a dog from homebrew before?

I'm intrigued by the rock part of the story but seriously.... Fish? I got soooooo sick on sushi once that I think I dry heaved (with a ranging fever) until the very last tiniest bit of rainbow roll was pulled back up from the very end of my small intestine. That was horrible. Come to...
