    Holy STEAMPUNK Batman!

I just watched this program on the Steampunk scene! I could not think of how anything is more Steampunk than AG brewing. If you are not sure what it is you should google or wikipedia it. I was wondering if anybody on here was into it or crafted any steampunk gadgets. Im not really about to...

First batch ever in Carboy in Nova Scotia

Hello Donair! Welcome to an obsessive hobby! luckily you are in the right spot! I go by the 1-2-3 rule. 1 week in the primary, 2 in the secondary, and 3 in the bottle. If you start kegging then you can forget the 3 weeks in the bottle and leave it alone in the keg on the gas at about 20PSI...

more glass carboy woes - be careful!

yikes! I usually soak with oxyclean and water over night, drain and then re-rinse and store until the next brewday/primary to secondary transfer. Then before I use the carboy for what ever I give it another rinsing, with half of it filled with hot water I cover the mouth of it with my hand and...

    Honey Kolsch experiment-- Need advice

I would Keg it to give you some time to force carb it. as you know the first half-liter to liter will be kinda funky, as you are getting all the settled yeast/trub. I would make sure that you save some, it is going to be awesome in a month or two :rockin:.

    Honey Kolsch experiment-- Need advice

I am brewing my second kolsch by "brewers best" right now. The first one was awesome, I added blueberries and I will do the same again. Not to discredit Kilgore, but I have to say that the yeast that came with the kit that I used went nuts within 12 hours and for about 3 days. I am positive...

Apfelwien brewing - thinking of adding blueberries to next batch

I am interested in how it would turn out. I love blueberries, I am making my second blueberry Kolsch right now. I have a blueberry oatmeal honey stout on tap right now. I have used both frozen and fresh blueberries, I will stick with the frozen from here out. Fresh is great, but it left a...

    Brewing my frist batch tomorrow

I like to use a secondary, I guess its just something that I have always done. Many dont use secondaries. For your first question... I prefer to use a 6.5 gal primary just in case there is a crazy fermentation, that way there is clearance for the beautiful krauzen to rise. Glass or plastic...

Just kegged my first beer last nite!

I kegged my first batch on monday! I am excited, I found 4 kegs on ebay for 20 a piece. Now I just need to fill the other three. I started to put the keezer together a couple of weeks ago, and finally got the thermostat in the mail. I dont know if I am going to force carb, prolly just do...

    Moving to secondary

I didnt do it until my seasoned brewer buddy at the LHBS told me about "topping up". It doesnt dilute any taste out of it, and my beer always has come out great. your just putting back what has evaporated out, in fact I think that it probably is better to top up a gallon or so, but no more. To...

    Moving to secondary

I have noticed that when I go into the secondary that some of the beer ferments out. I have added a gallon to the secondary before and the beer came out great (add it first to the secondary because if you let it splash it will aerate adding oxygen potentially causing "off flavors"). as posted...
