    Hefeweizen brain fart

I do have a 2.5 gal keg. This may be what I do with the 8

    Hefeweizen brain fart

Omg, I will put that on the label and watch my buddies scratch their heads

    Hefeweizen brain fart

Yes I used a scale to weigh it out and my notes showed 4.7 ounces. I was pretty upset by this mistake so maybe I did not read the gravity correct. Only one way to find out is to pop one open and check again.

    Hefeweizen brain fart

Well my first real big screw up. Brewed a Hefeweizen, played with temp and under pitched and got a lot of banana flavor. Decided to bottle vs keg so I could hand it out plus it seems to carb nicer and more flavorful vs keg. 2 weeks have gone by and only little pfft when I popped caps on 2...

Why no higher end picnic taps?

I bought the flared ss taps last year when they were first available. I like them, look cool and if it dropped (after a few some friends do) it has not broken like the plastic ones. Now that they have mfd ones looks like I can replace the others. Dang I like this group!

Thinking about an all in one

I bought my anvil 10.5 last summer and love it. Well, all but cleaning the mash tube which has the holes on the sides at the bottom. Not easy to clean inside the house. The new removable bottom looks like an improvement. I brew in the garage or when cold (0f) outside I put it on a cart in...

About to order a bunch of hop plants, need some guidance

I used the plastic sectional pound in edging, think it is 6" tall, to help keep my bines from spreading. It could be due to having clay loam soil is helping keep them in check too.

    Syrupy sweet after fermentation

Most of my beers fermented with us-05 comes in at 1.006-1.010 and that is fermented 66-69f. Has your beer dropped clear or near clear? If not it may have needed a few more days.

Will a single 1800w induction burner be enough for 3g batches?

I have similar cook top and bought a 16qt stock pot. I use it for small batch extract brewing in the winter. Since I work remote I can have it on the kitchen table and get 'paid' to brew😉 during my work day. Make sure to buy a decent pot with clad bottom for induction cooking. Heats faster...

Draining and disposing of spent grains

The hop/trub sludge goes in ditch that drains to river while my spent grains end up in compost pile or frozen for a woman that bakes. Upside is I get a loaf of good bread and no longer have to turn compost pile so often as the deer do it for me.

    2 gallon fermenter

I have the 3 gallon size of these. Went to grocery store bought it filled with water. Then I just take it to refill and brew again. When it no longer cleans easily or question about scratches, I just exchange for a new one.

Can Cask Beer be Mimicked in something besides a Pin or Firkin?

Ah man, you take all the fun away.. Now I feel the need to go find a cask ale. I know of a place that has the same recipe on tap, one std co2 and the other in a beer engine. Fun to have both to compare sxs.

Long time all grain brewer going back to extract and I'm glad I did.

Following a defined process, fresh ingredients, fresh yeast and temp control I can see him making great beer. What I have learned and do is so different then when I started 4 years ago. Thought that my very first brew, extract pale ale was best thing ever. Same kit a year later was so much...

What do you do for last minute brews if using liquid yeast?

Ack, I could have easily done that. When I used the imperial house it was at end of its best by time. I did a vitality sns the night before and it was ready to go the next afternoon.

About to order a bunch of hop plants, need some guidance

Well being in northern Sweden he more or less has 24 hour sunlight for a good part of the summer. As to the cold, here in northern Minnesota my hop plants usually have 3/4 meter of snow over them and temps of -45c has not had an affect on the nugget and Willamette that I grow. Biggest part is...

    Rinsing Sanitizer with Distilled Water

I have this on the top of the bottling tree. So easy, two pumps and set the bottle to drain while I do 5 or 6 more.

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

At the end of the brew I rinse out the kettle throw in a few gallons of water and some one-step or pbw for 10 minutes. Drain and use green scrubby and any buildup on bottom comes right off. Rinse it and done. If I suddenly have to handle kids or am tired and just want to be done and leave...
