    So who's brewing this weekend?

Have Chinookelhead Porter mashing right now. Going to use my homegrown nugget for the 30 minute addition.

    Off flavor and taste-Help

You state that you use a Tilt. Have you done a brew without it that tastes and smells good? If so maybe take the cap off and replace the seal or change out the whole housing?

The dreaded grain mill issues thread

My 2 roller has to be set credit card width so 32 to 35 mils in order to get decent efficiency. Downside was not lots of intact husk to help with biab draining and dunk sparge. My MM3 with 2" rollers the previous owner recalled it is set between 45 to 50 mils so I left it alone for ebiab with...

    American Porter Chinooklehead Porter

I have everything for this but brown malt because my lhbs did not have any. What could I use or make in place of it? Oh and I am using crystal 90.

    Hop Harvest ale

The beer has been kegged for a week and half. Nice malt flavor, color came out like I was hoping. Still a little hazy, then again could be from all the hops. Not that bitter, similar to blondes I have brewed. Color is a bit lighter then the photo.

    Hop Harvest ale

Well I multitasked and brewed while working remote on Friday. Used 10oz @10, 10oz @5 and 5oz @flameout. Used one of my biab bags to hold them. Here are the 25 ounces of fresh picked nuggets with hop packages for reference (no banana available). Bumped my sulphate slightly as @mashpaddled...

    Hop Harvest ale

@mashpaddled what would going more sulphate do? If it might help I would do it. The Voss I am tempted to change to Notty.

    Hop Harvest ale

This is what I am thinking for this years hop harvest ale. I made something similar last time using breiss 2-row and using cascade pellet for the 45 minute bittering. No Willamette fresh on hand so 1/2 ounce cascade @60 and 10 ounces @10 so total was 21 ounces of hops. Was tasty. This time...

You know you're a home brewer when?

When you go to a brew pub and order a beer and can only drink 1/3 and tell the hostess to dump it and bring you something else. I looked at my buddies and said I would prefer to be drinking my one year old pale ale that I found in the back of the fridge.

About to order a bunch of hop plants, need some guidance

Did you tear one open and check out the lupulin? My Diamond Springs have no real smell until I open them up. Nuggets on the other hand just picking a few I can smell without tearing.

What are your tips for keeping costs down

That's how I ended up with an anvil and 2 tilts and 2 wifi temp controllers when I only needed 1 of each.🙄 Just hard to keep the geek down. If you use liquid yeast at least repitch it one time to bring the cost down to dry yeast pricing.

Harvest pale ale 2022 using fresh nugget hops

This is what I am thinking for this years hop harvest ale. I made something similar last time using breiss 2-row and using cascade pellet for the 45 minute bittering. No Willamette fresh on hand so 10 minute nugget was 10 ounces so total was 21 ounces of hops. Was tasty. This time around I am...

    Rahr 2-row

I used it for my oatmeal stout and it turned out better than the breiss 2-row I have used in the past.

    When are hops ready?

I picked my Willamette a week ago as they were ready with a few of them browning. My Nuggets are now ready to pick, they smell good without breaking them open and even two hop cones squeezed makes fingers sticky. I have a few first year diamond springs that have maybe a dozen cones on them and...

    Midwest Supply

There used to be a good lhbs on the north side of the twin cities but the owners wanted to retire and got a very good offer for the building. That left mws and nb as the main ones for me anytime I am in the Twin Cities. For me shipping has been fairly quick but then again I am 'local' at 130...
