I wasn't serious, but thanks. I hadn't heard about that brand. What I love about HBT is that I learn something new every day. Prost!

    Brewdemon Conical?

I use a Mr. Beer SBK for small/test batches of brew and ciders. Any chance it would have the same aversion to Star San? Hope I didn't just ruin that thing :off:

Favorite method for adding coffee to Porter?

Going forward, Brew a six gallon batch. Keg the first 5 as is and bottle the last gallon with a bit of cold press coffee in the mix. For the keg you have, brew a coffee "tea"/extract with vodka in a mason jar and put a few drops in her glass before filling.

Game of Thrones S5, Beer Ideas

I left out Daenerys of the House Targaryen, the First of Her Name, Queen of Meereen, Queen of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Lady Regnant of the Seven Kingdoms, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Breaker of Chains, Mother of Dragons, and Protector of the Realm, because she bored me...

Need some quick advice on what to do about sulfur smell

I think you are 2-3 days away, at least. If you have to bottle at 1.040, try to add some yeast nutrient (or make your own: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f32/sulfur-smell-379044/) and it should clear up in 3-4 days. I'd rather drop a few fg points than risk bottling rhino farts. I bottle my...

Game of Thrones S5, Beer Ideas

If making a GoT brew, why not necromancy? The dead rise all the time on that show. http://gameofthrones.wikia.com/wiki/Wights Also, why not a Gruit? For all we know, they don't have hops in Westeros. Greyjoy's Gruit would be just the ticket. Of course, it's expensive: you must pay the...

Need some quick advice on what to do about sulfur smell

Let it ride. It isn't close to done yet. While you're waiting (and hopefully RDWHAHB) read this: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f32/my-cider-smells-like-rotten-eggs-312099/

    My first brew

I pick up the off-brand oxyclean free substitute from the dollar store. I forget how much it costs, but it's cheaper than the big box stores. Plus the Dollar Store is closer to my house than Walmart or Target.

    Putting yeast in

I think you will be OK. There are threads upon threads regarding stirring or not stirring yeast. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f13/stir-yeast-59522/ I've gone both ways (hey now!) and gotten good beer either way. There are also threads upon threads regarding rehydrating or dry pitching...
