    wilserbrewer BIAB bags

Squeeze away. I still pour chilled wort through a sanitized 5g paint strainer bag, then with clean hands I've dunked in starsan, squeeze all the sweet juices from the bag into my bucket fermenter. Sometimes it adds a half gallon or more. If nothing else, it aerates my wort. It's never caused ne...

    Radler

I make a few bottles of a "Radler-ish" brew from select batches of lighter beers such as hefeweizen, blonde ale, or cream ale by firdt filling beer bottle 1/4 to 1/3 the way up with water from a new water bottle mixed with https://www.mycountrymart.com/shop?product_id=2298526 then topping up...

    Why doesn’t everyone BIAB?

For many, homebrewing is not just about creating a beer; it is an escape. The more challenging it is, the more of an escape it is. People like to tinker to spark their creativity. They tinker with recipes; tinker with equipment, set ups, and builds; tinker with electronics and programming...

Heres a pic of the outside of the jury rigged MLT. Sometimes less is more.

    Brewery names--what's your story?

Bananadick Brewing In the 90's, I was eating breakfast one Saturday morning and my roommate had the Discovery Channel on the TV instead of cartoons. They were talking about Zebras and showing how well endowed the males were, even when compared to horses. After winning a fight with the old...

Mash....did i mess up or am i good?

It depends. There are a lot of variables. What you did after realizing and when you did it, would make a huge difference. How long did it take to reach 165+? If it took a while, you may have converted starch to sugar before denaturing the enzymes necessary to do so. Might be a drier beer, but...

What have you jury-rigged in your brewery that works better than something you could buy ready-made?

I shoved a hose leftover from a water softener install through the spigot of an old ice chest. Put a mesh sleeve from a Goodwill purchased toilet hose on the inside and a LHBS nylon valve on the outside. Boom! Instant $3 Mash tun.

    Love Golf?

A ton of parallels between golf and homebrewing: Both have unlimited equipment upgrade options, theories, points of view, and misinformation in print and on the internet. Both have us striving to have a repeatable process in order to obtain predicable results in particular situations. Both...

    First Mash Tun Batch

It depends. You may have more wort lost between your grain and your drain (i.e., equipment loss) than you think. As you continue to hone your process you will learn your equipment profile, i.e., loss, trub loss, as well as factor in grain absorption. This will allow you to better dial in the...
