    Regulator cardboard/paper bent

Thanks, if anything I'll give them a call just for the feedback. It looks to me as if the backing was screwed in at the wrong place it's pushed more to the left than centered like the rest of the backings - I can see a gap to the right side. I would rather do the 30 second fix than wait a week...

    Regulator cardboard/paper bent

Just got my keg setup from kegconnection that included their regulator. On the tank pressure gauge the cardboard is bent up and pushing against the needle. Is there an easy way to fix this? I wasn't sure if popping off the front would be a good idea....

    Primary/Secondary confusion

Ya, I read through that thread and perhaps got even more confused as it appears there is no proven best method. I suppose I'll just do close to what the instructions say or just do what I feel is best at the time.

    Primary/Secondary confusion

I have brewed a couple kits from NB now and had a question about when to secondary if it all. Cream Ale - NB says 2 weeks, primary 2 weeks in bottles (I did 4 in primary, 3 bottle) Peace Coffee Stout Porter - 2 weeks primary, 2 weeks secondary, 2 weeks conditioning (it's been in primary for 3...

    Carb question

Thanks all. The NB recipe said 2 weeks primary and 2 week bottle condition. I ended up in primary for a month, is there any benefit in leaving it that long or should I have bottled at 2 weeks and then just bottle condition and carb at the same time for three weeks? I know it's probably...

    Carb question

Just cracked open a cream ale that has been bottled for 7 days to learn the rate of carbing. I had a very small hiss but it was as flat as could be but still tasty. Is this normal after 7 days? I'm conditioning them about 64 degrees....is this alright? Primed with standard 2/3 cup in 16 oz water...

First brew - NB cream ale - overshot OG

Marx - I dumped everything into the fermenter as well and looks as if it settled out just fine, granted it was in the primary for a month. Poured a half way filled bottle into a glass at bottling and it appeared to be just as clear as my friends apple wine that has been racked multiple times and...

First brew - NB cream ale - overshot OG

I must comment on the color of this brew again, it was a deep redish color when done fermenting in the carboy but when bottling it was a golden straw color just as it should be. All that liquid in the carboy really makes for a color change. I'm glad it it turned out like it should, now only to...

Siphon Question - how much to leave

It appears I need to invest in some carboy wedges or find something to put underneath when siphoning, it was kind of hard to hold it back while watching the siphon and it appears it broke when doing so. Hopefully there is enough yeast to carbonate.

Siphon Question - how much to leave

I am using a bottling bucket, my questions referred to siphoning from the primary to the bottling bucket

Siphon Question - how much to leave

I bottled my first batch of NB cream ale today and got 43 1/2 bottles out of my 5 gallon batch. Drank the half bottle to get a good taste for it. I know I could get more out of it but when siphoning I noticed a lot of yeast in suspension in the last half gallon, I stopped the siphon because I...

    Temperature Question

Thanks! I'll take a reading when I get a chance. My cream ale is sitting a little over three weeks now and will get a reading tomm, after all the advise on here I have decided it's better to be patient from the get go. This one has about a week and a half now before going to secondary to add the...

    First brew in the fermenter!

I haven't brewed that one yet but it is probably going to be my next. People say it a clone of moose drool but even better!

    Temperature Question

Hello everyone, I am currently fermenting a peace coffee stout porter extract kit from NB. I used US-04 and have a few questions. I believe the optimum fermentation temp for this yeast is 64-72 if I remember correctly. The ambient temp is 68, or so my thermostat says. I have a cream ale...

    Whirlfloc - Partial Boil

Hello all, I'm getting ready to brew an extract and was wondering if I should split the tablet for the 3 gallons of liquid I'll be boiling. It states 1 tablet for 5-10 gallons. Thanks!

First brew - NB cream ale - overshot OG

Thanks Fuzzy, quick question for you...do you remember the cream ale turning out darker than it should have? I believe looking at NB's promash analysis it should be around 5 SRM but my batch is a very deep brown. I can tell it's getting lighter but golden in no way.

First brew - NB cream ale - overshot OG

Thanks for the replies. There very well could have been a few bubbles from the star san. The hydrometer kept sticking to the side of the test tube but when it didn't I ended up at the same OG on multiple readings. I'm glad to hear that being a little off isn't a big deal at all with the partial...

First brew - NB cream ale - overshot OG

Also, it is a good possibility that I poured more break material from the kettle than I should have. During the ice bath it never really settled to the bottom...the pot was kind of floating, not sure if this has an impact or not

First brew - NB cream ale - overshot OG

Hello everyone, I brewed my first batch tonight and it appears that I overshot my OG. This was an extract kit with specialty grains which I put them in while heating up 20 minutes or until 170 is what the directions said. I pulled the grains at 168 and went to a boil, 60 minute boil and added...
