    Stout Recipe - Extract

Would you split that up maybe 2.5 oz at the beginning of the boil and .5 oz at the end or all at the beginning?

    Stout Recipe - Extract

That makes it much easier. What quantity of hops would you use 2-6 oz is quite a range.

    Stout Recipe - Extract

Some questions about that recipe: How much water do you use for the grains that get put into the oven? Do you sterilize the pan that goes into the oven? Sterilize the strainer? Is sparge water just regular water or with something added? How much hops did you use at the beginning and at the...

    Stout Recipe - Extract

I have made three batches of beer and my last Stout turned out horrid. I am in need of a recipe, something not as dry as a Guiness, but I want to use extracts and hops. I can do some grains but don't want to get into roasting and the like unless I need to. I'm a noob. Suggestions? :drunk:

    Long Fermentation

What is the longest fermentation you have had? I have a stout going that the recipe said it should be 2 to 3 days and at day 5 I am still getting a bubble every 15 seconds and the krausen is a long way from dropping. It looks like a gooey yeasty mess on top. :drunk:

    Fermentation Lock Question

Well, My first batch is in the Carboy and bubbling quite nicely!! My kit came with a fermentation lock, no blow off tube. The instructions said to take off the cover of the lock - I wan't sure why. Now I can see - it's acting like a blow off tube in that foam is making it's way up into the...

    Fermentation Question

How long after putting the wort and yeast into the carboy should I begin to see some action? It's been 4 hours and I see nothing. I proofed the yeast and it seemed OK, not super active, but OK. Is there a minimum time before you start seeing some bubbling and foam? Also, my...
