    FG reached in 3 days.

Thanks. The instructions that came with an amber ale that I got from these folks says to rack to a secondary in 3-5 days which seems crazy, is it?? I'm glad I'm getting the answers that I expected here. Need to not put too much stock in the guys I've been talking to the store I think.

    FG reached in 3 days.

It seems every time I talk to my guys at my local supply shop they are always preaching racking to a secondary after FG is reached to prevent off flavors. It seems like they are the only ones that preach it though... And they always get me worrying.... Consensus, from what I've gathered in...

    FG reached in 3 days.

Hey, so my strong ale reached it final gravity in 3 days. I'll take another reading tomorrow to see if there is any movement. The recipe and the guy at my local supply shop recommends no secondary for this particular ale. Safe to bottle in that short time? I don't want to let is sit in spent...

Okay to add water to primary after pitching?

So I aerated into a 7.5 primary and the boil to mix with cold water then siphoned in to a 5 gallon glass. (Would have left it in the 7.5 but the airlock grommet cracked). After I siphoned into the 5 gallon I it seems low, I must have lost some during the straining and was prob a bit short on the...

    Arrogant bastard clone

Hey all, First, arrogant bastard clone recipe made no reference to straining or to racking to a secondary. I strained most of it and its in a blow by 5 gallon primary. What do you think, rack to a secondary?!?!

Looking to convert the old college fridge.

Any suggestions on where to find a 5 gallon keg and co2 tank, hoses regulator etc.. to put in a converted mini fridge? Ive seen some used materials on sites, curious if they are reliable. Also, curious where and how much it costs to refill co2. thanks!

Rusty I am... Did mess up?

So I think you have it right, the off flavors are what you desscibed. Certainly drinkable, great front flavor but the finish is plasticky.... By the way, I see you are from attleboro. Im in Waltham, but this past brew was concocted in N. attleboro at my buddies house. Small world! Do you get...

Rusty I am... Did mess up?

Yes I agree. It would need to be boiling as far as I understand.

Rusty I am... Did mess up?

Thank you all for the input. Tasted it today, definitely had a plasticky, almost bitter taste upon the finish. Damn. I am not sure what the culprit is though. Could be the bleach... Could also be that it was left in only a primary for the duration of the ferm. I also left it in the primary a few...

Rusty I am... Did mess up?

Sanitized my primary with diluted bleach... 1 tablespoon to gallon and aired dry (didn't rinse). Am I safe to sip when she's done?

    Spiced amber ale conditioning question

Bottled this ale exactly 1.5 weeks ago. Been sitting pretty in 65-68 F. Getting super anxious to crack one open. Going for it tomorrow for a little gathering we're having. If my carbonation/head is not where I want it, will more time/warmer temp get me there?
