    Pin vs Ball Lock Kegs

I used ball locks in my first kegerator they were great. Made a long distance move and sold my kegerator so I build a new one. I got a smoken deal on 4 pin locks so I built the new one with pin locks. They are fine. The only thing I miss about the ball lock kegs is the pressure release valve...

    Kegerator for motorhome

I like the idea of a 5 gallon keg in a motor home but haven’t been able to think up a cost effective way to refrigerate it. Could you change the pick up tube and lay the keg on its side? It wouldn’t have to be fully horizontal. Elevate the top maybe 8”. Then it would fit in a large cooler. You...

    Cold Crashing without larger container

What bleme said. I’ve bottled and kegged beers of various styles with out cold crashing or fining and they all turned out good to great. I always use Irish moss or whirlfloc. The last two beers I cold crashed and used Gelatin and while they may be clearer, I don’t think they taste any better.

nostalgia cbd5ss homecraft on tap beer growler cooling system

That’s tough, it’s not what you want, but your wife thought it would please you. I might just try to make the best of the situation and continue with my 5 gallon batches, bottle 4 gallons and put 1 in the growler. It would be nice for entertaining at home, taking to a friends house or picnics.

decision on commercial upright 2 glass door fridge for kegerator

Ya, once you cut holes for the taps it’s a dedicated kegerator. We used to own a coffee shop and I priced that type of refrigerator. I don’t remember how much they sold for but I do remember they were a lot higher than I was willing to pay. If it doesn’t work out as is, you could probably sell...

Is double crush a waste of time?

That looks good. It’s finer than I was getting with my commercial coffee grinder and a lot finer than what the brew shop crushes for me. I’ll try the credit card for setting mine and post when I get some grain milled. Maybe that will be the eensy bit tighter that dmtaylor suggests.

decision on commercial upright 2 glass door fridge for kegerator

You may be able to mount the taps on the side. It looks like there is room for three taps. My kegerator has three taps over a 10 inch drip tray similar to RRL’s

help pls re ceramic tower installation

That’s a beauty. I think that silicone will be the best choice. It’s water (beer) proof and easy to use. It should hold just fine, especially since it will be mounted through the counter. If it doesn’t hold you have not done any damage and you can try another approach.

Is double crush a waste of time?

I have two feeler gauges that are not oily, one is stainless steel and the other is brass. You could wash yours with dish soap and then oil it again after using it if you think it might rust. I measured a couple of credit cards with a micrometer, they measured .032 I might start with that...

Is double crush a waste of time?

My Cereal Killer mill arrived yesterday late. I didn’t get to unbox it because I had to leave for Alaska to work. I work pretty much two weeks on, two weeks off. This time I’m on a 16 day shift. When I get home I’ll set th new mill up and do a finer crush on the grains I already have for a...

Is double crush a waste of time?

Mine was in Haltom City. It’s a great brew store. They have good prices and a huge selection of everything. I’ve cooled off since I vented about the double crush attitude. I’ll continue to buy my grains from them when my mill gets here. After some more research I think I’ll start of setting...

Is double crush a waste of time?

I don’t think there is any danger of turning your grains to dust doing a double crush at .035. I’ve read on this forum that BIAB brewers set their mill at .020 to .028. My mill should be here soon, so I’ll set it somewhere in between and see how it goes. I have always done a 90 minute mash...

Is double crush a waste of time?

I just finished brewing one of the grains I bought, its a light SMaSH. I was expecting 1.036 and got 1.037 for a Brewhouse Efficiency of 78%. I’m satisfied with that. It’s the greif I get when I ask for double crush that irritates me. There is another store West of Fort Worth that I will try...

Is double crush a waste of time?

Before I moved I had a comercial coffee grinder set up for my grain mill. I had it set a quite a bit finer than what you see in the picture.

Is double crush a waste of time?

This is the double crush. He went a head and ran it twice. At least I think he did. They have a closed room they measure and mill in. I did not see what the first looked like.

Is double crush a waste of time?

Yesterday I bought yeast, hops and grains for two different beers that I am going to brew. I asked for a double crush because they don’t do a fine crush. Am I wasting everyone’s time asking for this? Every time I buy grains at this store I get an eye roll or a hesitation on the double crush...

    Root beer recipe / method?

It shounds over carbed. I have made ginger ale. It should be somewhat similar. I force carb with 30 psi, shake the keg vigorously and then put it in the fridge at about 40 degrees and set the co2 at about 10 psi. I only had 5 foot of 3/16th line on that one. No problems. I like you recepie...

    Kegerator issue

Sometimes that is caused by dust and lint collecting in the coils. Open up the back and vacuum it out. If you have an air compressor you can blow the junk out that way too. It won’t cost anything to try.
