I understand that you will still have some yeast in solution and a soft crash is better, but in practice it seems to support the fact that a large portion of the yeast floccs out with the proteins also. You can actually see the yeast/protein layers. Another advantage I have found using it is a...

Speaking of soft crash I'm curious, what is the consensus here regarding using floc in neipas? One advantage from my experience is the ability to skip the soft crash when using clarifiers like whirlfloc due to the fact that that once the fermentation activity subsides, the trub settles out at...

You are absolutely correct, my mistake. I missed the part about linking the gas to gas line, as that c02 has to go somewhere! This method will save some gas on transfer too which is always a bonus.

Wow what a great experience bro. I have read several times about him being very forthcoming with his techniques which is pretty darn cool. It seems like Vinny is one of those guys who loves to share information and do things his own way. I recently heard on a podcast that they still introduce...

As you transfer, pressure will be lower in the receiving keg and siphon will occur, but once pressure increases during filling, the receiving keg will reach equilibrium and pressure will need to be increased in the push keg/fermenter in order to keep the flow going. That is what's nice about...

I think what he was trying to say is if he does NOT pull the prv. You will definitely need to pressurize the fermenter if you dont want to pull prv or you can run a spunding valve at a slightly lower psi than the fermenter. This has worked great for me.

For my neipas I typically do both a bio transformation hop (during active ferm, day 2-3) and a post ferm dryhop. But lately I have been combining the dosages and just doing the post ferm dryhop and have noticed an increase in both flavor and aroma. Just be sure to avoid introducing any oxygen...

Recently I have been using a spunding valve during transfers. This will help minimize any 02 that might want to sneak back in the prv by keeping a set psi in the keg, as well as allowing you to walk away

Forget keg to keg transfers, its like secondary, completely unneeded imo. Focus on good oxy free etiquette when purging the keg using a FULL keg of star san, push it all out and purge then do your closed transfer.I have done transfers with minimal pulling of the prv, it just depends on how much...

    Carbonation

Welcome back to brewing! If you have access to a c02 tank you could use a carbonation cap on those pet bottles. https://www.amazon.com/Stainless-Carbonation-Pressure-Barb%EF%BC%8CCO2-Carbonate/dp/B01K4GGYT0/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=carbonation+cap&qid=1575714199&sr=8-4 They work very well, very fast.

How to keep Hazy/NE IPAs tasting fresh?

Pour a light lager into a glass, then pour a hazy ipa into a glass. Wait 48 hours then do the eye, nose and taste test. I assure you the heavily hopped hazy will have deviated far more than the lager. Another thing for the op to consider when keeping hoppy beer in a keg for an extended period...

Looks good. Give it a little bit of time in the keg to mellow out. Most big beers will benefit with a bit of a rest.

Cascade is the essential OG IPA/pale hop imo. It has worked great for me in various applications including hotside for neipa. People may disagree but I think it does well in most styles. The grapefruit shines on the cold side, but it also does a good job of bittering in the kettle and also...

Same here. Got some 2019 Strata, Citra, Mosaic, Amarillo, El dorado, and 6 of the 75 cent cascades. The free 40$ book was enough to make me spend the hundo.

Temperature: hop utilization correlation to cannabinoid vaporization

I think the verdict is still out in regards to flavor/aroma/ibu utilization at varying temps and duration with hops. The data that is out there is all over the place, as well as all of the brewing software giving various results. Most research on this topic in the cannabis field (up to this...

    Transfer from fermzilla

One advantage of the zilla is the ability to dry hop from the bottom jar post fermentation without oxidation. Just add hops to trub jar, purge, and crank the handle.

    Transfer from fermzilla

If it's still fermenting just open up the top and install pressure kit. If it's done fermenting just put the carb caps on and hook up your c02 and purge the headspace, the remove the lid quickly and install floating dip tube. As far as transfering to keg, just make a jumper hose with liquid ball...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Anyone here been brewing lighter versions of the NE style/hazys or hybrid ipas? Lately I have been building my "hazys" with no adjuncts, higher mash temps, higher ibu and using neutral yeasts to showcase hops and make a more crushable version of the style. My latest was all Pilsen malt with...
