How to diagnose a k/freezer problem

So typically on a refrigeration unit, the most common problems for not cooling are: 1) Compressor running, but not cooling - this usually means that your sealed system sprang a leak and if you keep running it like that, the compressor will burn up. The fix is to locate and seal the leak...

    Not getting enough carbonation

Sounds like your ginger ale is getting overcarbonated and you need to shorten your time before going into the fridge.

    Vintage Frigidaire

I'm no electrician, but I think that cord should work just fine. I did the same to my vintage GE. The guy I bought it from gave me a decent enough extension cord with it, but the original cord was dry rotted beyond all reason, so I cut off the end of the extension cord , attached the ground to...

Looking to purchase bottles similar to 750ml Goose Island bottles

I think you have to buy a pallet from these guys, but are you referring to these: http://buyourbottles.com/amber-glass-bottles/glass-750ml-celebration I pick up a bunch of these in green on occasion from the tasting room at a local winery. You can also buy them new in green from most homebrew...

    Rare brews

How's this for apart from the norm: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f95/chili-mango-just-mango-soda-recipe-330510/ I've not tried the above recipe from homebrewbeliever, but I have done a jalapeno lime soda that was pretty good.

Force carb in keg then long term glass bottle storage?

I would recommend a counter-pressure filler, or the BMBF I would not recommend room temp, though. It's a gamble. I frequently force carb then bottle in glass because I usually bottle carbonated water on syrup, cap, then shake. I get more flavor variety out of a single keg, better...

    Bubble Tea Syrups?

Sounds awesome! I worked on a project in college that required a frozen raspberry juice concentrate. $50/gal for that stuff industrially. By contrast, a can of frozen apple juice concentrate is what, like $2 for 12oz, (~$20/gal) on the consumer level. So, yeah, it doesn't surprise me that...

I need to name my son.. any suggestions?

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has considered this. It's getting kind of old just going through the alphabet and adding -aiden. Aiden, Bayden, Cayden, Daiden, Eaden... I'm just glad the trend is waning before we get to S or Z. Last thing I need is my third grader sitting next to Saiden in...

Vintage GE Fridge Kegerator Conversion Project

I had a similar problem with mine that I ordered off of ebay. It was a little too stiff to stay around what I guess would be probably 3/4" radius 90° bend typical edge of a door on a mini-fridge. It began to straighten out and peel away from the double sided foam tape that it came with. I hit...

I need to name my son.. any suggestions?

Spiderman Atticus Male Hear me out, In elementary school, everybody wants to be friends with Spiderman, or Batman, or whatever superhero you want to name him after. I worked with a guy in college named Thor, really, true story. I also have a friend who named her son Odin, but I digress. Up...

Recipe for Reed's Spiced Apple Brew?

I've force carbonated this recipe with some minor modifications to excellent results, though it's a little heavy on overall sugar. If you cut down the lemon and add in some cinnamon and maybe cloves, I think you'll get to where you want to be. My variation in a 5 gal keg is: 3 gal 100% apple...

    Books?

From the sample that I looked at (which was one page), it looks like it probably has just the basics, stuff that you'd find elsewhere on the internet. The basic recipe states that it's using "syrups" with sugar and yeast, but what they really mean to say is "flavor extracts". The photo shows...

    Do "Split" Bottles Exist?

7oz split champagne bottles will take a crown cap and most of the online homebrew stores have them. They come in clear or green. I have also seen smaller Malta Goya bottles, but those are always twisties. I don't know if things have changed in the last few years, but I remember reading...

    Wood burning anyone?

And that's why I love this forum. Solid sense of community here! I don't know so much about having more skills rather than just having the right tools on hand. I went into GIMP and used the "Find Edges" filter, then desaturated it to black and white. I don't know why I didn't flip it...

    Wood burning anyone?

I would use paint or something similar. Personally, I'm a big fan of Gimp. Not to step on JINKS' toes, but how about this: You may need to play with the brightness/contrast so it prints bold enough to transfer. If you don't have a laser printer, you can always print it off on what you have...

    Ice in my Co2 bottle?

Frost is common from paintball tanks, and given that you're in Hawaii (IIRC), the high humidity could indeed be an issue. If humid air got in, it should be mostly purged in the filling process which is typically to pressurize, shut off the large tank, purge to cool the small tank, then fill and...

    Kegged Ginger Beer- Sediment? Agitation?

Any time I've used ginger, I find it best to leave the sediment in, though I don't juice so my sediment is not fine. Mine are usually force carbonated, so I'm adding it directly to the keg. Basically what usually do is take the root and slice it very thin so I get as many slices as possible...

    Wood burning anyone?

By stencil do you mean you're not sure the best parts to highlight in in black & white, or are you unsure how to get the pattern onto the wood to start burning? If you're just looking to get the pattern onto the wood first: Print your pattern in B/W in reverse with a laser printer. Lay the...

    Books?

I've never used it, but I have heard that it has a little different profile than cane sugar, almost like a light brown sugar. It's on my list of things to try, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. I would expect it can be used the same way and the same amount as white sugar.
