Transporting a kegErAtor on its side is ok....

Yup just let it sit upright for a minimum of a day well done you know what your doing :). With the co2 I believe its a myth that it can't be on it's side because I have done 25 gallons worth of kegging with my bottle sideways and in just turned it upright because the pressure of the bottle on...

    Yeast Smack Pack

So it is no bigger than when you pulled it out of the fridge? I had one time where I thought I had broken the smack pack but I hadn't and when I went to dump the yeast in I had to pop the pack and pour it in afterwards because I noticed it was still inside.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

    New burner help!

Oh true silly me then you wouldn't have an residual gas in the line anyways which is good. Correct?

    Drunken homebrewing

Yeah that does make sense. I never have more than a couple when doing my actual boil but I got caught up in what I was doing and drinking then realized I needed to make my starter ha ha. Guess next time I'll do the starter before I start drinking!

A story of patience...almost. Ill call it "accidental patience".

True true. What I try to do is have some good beer around so I am less tempted to touch my beer until it sits just a little extra. Always turns out that much better as well and it is always worth the wait :D

    New burner help!

+1 the only problem is you have to cut it to shut it off right? If the timer knob has a big enough ridge you could drill a hole and put a pin in to hold it on and when you want to shut it off just pull the pin. If I understand the situation correctly.

    Yeast Smack Pack

Most people don't recommend waiting to pitch the yeast for risk of infection and the like but if you were sanitary it should be no problem.

    Yeast Smack Pack

What I do is just pull it out of the fridge and smack it then shake the heck out of it. After an hour or two when it starts tons well a little I start to make my yeast starter and after I have the starter cooled to pitching temps I dump the pouch in and put in on my stir plate. I only have had...

    Drunken homebrewing

Yeah you always think your fine and the next day you look at what you did. Hell I spill a lot of water when I'm sober and I spill even more when I'm drinking. Nice to hear some other funny experiences we can look back at and laugh some.

    Drunken homebrewing

I have also found that I leave a lot more put and dirty when I've been drinking but it was just so delicious and went down so well. At least everything has turned out well for everyone so far. Oh and I have done the intense scrubbing only to find it was on the outside as well.:D

    Drunken homebrewing

    Drunken homebrewing

Ha ha so last night I had a few too many of my Irish Stout and I remembered I needed to make a yeast starter. I remember starting the boil and having one small boil over. This morning when I woke up I came out to it being on the stir plate and I couldn't remember cooling the wort or pitching the...

    extract storage

Oh I hadn't really thought I should do this but it wouldn't hurt. I normally buy one or two kits at a time so this would definitely be good because sometimes I can't brew for a month or more at a time and I just have kits sitting on the shelf. Good to know!
  16. biohaz7331

how do you decide what to brew?

I just go through pages of different recipes online at whatever homebrew supply you use. I have a log of what I have done and what I would do again but there are so many different kits I have not repeated one yet. I figure I'll do a few yearly like my smashing pumpkin ale but I feel there are...

    Secondary fermentation

Yeah every secondary I have done has had trub in the bottom but not nearly as much as what was in the bottom of my primary. Definitely normal and it also helps with having less trub and yeast when you keg your beer.

    Gamers!! Come in!!

Glad to hear there are other people that love gaming on this fourum! I should post pics of my xbox related to modding. I water cooled my xbox because it is/was a first gen xbox that were prone to overheating and damage. So I took it upon myself to make it water cooled and the fans in the back...

    Second Fermenter not fermenting

Yup it should really not be called a secondary fermenter because no fermentation takes place. I would call it a clearing tank/vessel but when talking with other people that know almost nothing about home brewing I just call it secondary.
