    Dogs

This morning my 3 year old lab (food obsessed) decided it was more important to lick sweet wort up off the concrete than not catch on fire. He put his head right next my blichmann burner to lick the wort! Luckily he only burnt hair not skin, but boy did it stink. He also roams our home...

    "Dank" IPA recipe

I'd love to try this. How much hops per 12oz bottle of Coors light?

    Making IN YOUR FACE IPA's.

I completely agree on the hop extract point. However the value proposition of using my extra CTZ ($10/lbs) at the rate of .75 oz @ 60min for total bittering is just too great. Especially with a monster hop bomb which will crush my budget, can't fork out the money for hop extract. oh one...

    Making IN YOUR FACE IPA's.

Living in San Diego, land of IPA's, I've gotten to a point where I prefer my homebrew to the local bottle shop which is a game of roulette to see how long the thing has been on the shelf. I've also won ribbons at the SD County Fair for IPA so I know my tastes aren't wacko. :D Here's my major...

Successes and failures with grain mills, what mill has worked best for you?

I bought a corona mill and modified it. Used it a couple times but I was trying to nail down an off flavor and a lot of people out there say that corona mills can lead to some off flavors so I ditched it. (My off flavor was NOT the corona mill it turned out ferm temp.) However, I bought...

Days in a row you've homebrewed

What's the most days in a row you've homebrewed? I brewed two days in a row last week and I noticed a couple benefits.... 1.) Don't have to put away all your equipment. Just leave it out! :ban: 2.) I usually homebrew once a month which means re-learning or remembering a couple things that...

Corn sugar or DME for gravity??

CORN SUGAR if it's in your recipe. DME if you missed your numbers. p.s. - if you overshoot your numbers, then skip the corn sugar! That usually the case for me because I assume my efficiency is crap. :drunk:

    Clarity Ferm in commercial beer

Yes, in their "Delicious IPA". That is not all that remarkable. However, what is remarkable is that they post gluten-test lab results for every single batch on their website! Yes, it's trackable! :ban: I don't have a problem with gluten but that's cool.

    Pizza Port Swami's Recipe?

I'm here near Bressi too and Pizza Port just started canning their "Kook" DIPA. I got the first round and it tasted remarkably like a DIPA version of Swami's. I think they took they Swami's recipe crafted a DIPA version of it. It's very good and actually more drinkable than most double IPA's...

    Pizza Port Swami's Recipe?

Don't know the recipe but it tastes like they use lots of pilsner malt in there. The beer is the lightest colored IPA I've ever seen so that suggests no crystal malt and probably just carapils for body. This beer has been around forever so don't bother looking at the new hop varietals. I'd...

    Growing hops in southern california

I've got tons of hop cones FIRST year here in North San Diego, CA. There's 3 of the 4 C's.... Centennial, Columbus and Cascade. We are 15 miles down the road from Stone Brewing which used to have hop plants in their garden but no longer! They may have given up but not me :D I'd have to say...

    cool brewing bag mods

Me too. Anybody thought about hooking up a dorm fridge and controller to the bag? The bag seems like a nice alternative to building some big foam chamber because it is collapsible when not in use, etc. Sent from my iPad using Home Brew
