    Sanke keg cleaner build

One last pic for the night. Had to go vote so that took up some of my day, but I got the side shelf welded on after spending a while playing with the pump, just to find out it's not gonna work. There won't be room for the co2 tank now with the other pump which is no biggie. I'll have to do a...

    Sanke keg cleaner build

Alright well another quick update. This pump is doing what it's supposed to do, just not anywhere near the psi I'm after. I got it hooked up and running, however it's only pushing out 7psi which is only half of the 15psi I'm after. That said, the bottom and inside of the keg are getting hot so...

    Sanke keg cleaner build

Alright well update for today. I ran out of gas after like two welds. I also ran out of cutting wheel on the chop saw. So another $19 expense for an abrasive wheel for stainless. Another $65 for a swap out on gas. I'm almost done welding and cutting though so I should still have quite a bit left...

    Sanke keg cleaner build

Haha I appreciate that! Yeah the brewing stuff is only second to my truck...lol This thing is definitely costing way more than I planned on spending. Luckily I bought some of it a few months ago which helped spread some of the cost. Lots of labor involved though. As simple as it looks, it's a...

    Sanke keg cleaner build

Figured I'd post this up since I had a really hard time finding one that was semi decent quality, or threads that started good then the OP disappeared. I've finally decided to make the switch to Sanke kegs for many reasons. This build is my own design and kind of figuring things...

Hach Pocket Pro+ vs Omega Phh 7011

So reading the info and reviews on that Apera model, it seems to meet all the same requirements as the other two I am looking at. -.01 resolution and .01 accuracy -replaceable electrode(per reviews they are coming out with a more accurate electrode that will also fix the issue with bubbles...

Hach Pocket Pro+ vs Omega Phh 7011

I appreciate the input. Yeah I guess I should've clarified a bit. When I said I've been reading my eyes off, I meant extreme Google searches and on here. Over the past few days, I think I've read every thread on this forum with both of those meters in them. That said, there really isn't anything...

Hach Pocket Pro+ vs Omega Phh 7011

Hey guys! Been reading and reading and more reading for the past few weeks. I have had a few pH meters over the years. First was a Milwaukee MW-102 which I absolutely hated, was inaccurate, drifted all over the place. Replaced the electrode with a brand new one thinking it was the problem...

Is Fast Pitch canned wort coming back?

I actually read through your whole thread yesterday. That's why I figure it has to be a temperature thing. I would try lowering the PSI on a batch to say 10PSI to get a lighter color, but then we aren't hot enough to kill botulism and that's not something I'm willing to risk. I do have a few...

Is Fast Pitch canned wort coming back?

Alright gonna post a little update on this. Morrey, I have a feeling your pressure cooker isn't actually getting to 15PSI. I did my batch last night and went with 114g per pint jar of extra light pilsner DME. There is a big difference in color in those of us using an actual pressure canner at...

Pitched Wyeast 1007 in Oktoberfest at wrong temp

Yeah I just checked it and I'm already down to 1.014 with a final estimated gravity of 1.012. I started at 1.048 so the yeast already tore through in a day and a half and what's done is done. All I can do now is keep my fingers crossed and hope all I end up with is some fruitier esters instead...

Pitched Wyeast 1007 in Oktoberfest at wrong temp

The thing that worries me is Ive read a bunch of people posting of getting burnt rubber smells and tastes using 1007 at higher temps. The package says frutier esters at higher temps which 68° is the highest recommended temp.

Pitched Wyeast 1007 in Oktoberfest at wrong temp

As the title states, I'm making a 10 gallon batch of octoberfest that I brewed on Friday. I made a 2 liter starter of yeast with two packs of 1007 to hit the proper yeast pitch rate. I made an idiot move and totally forgot to look at the yeast pack to see fermentation temps. I figured an...

Having problems with keezer temps..need advice

The kegs have been in there for about 2 weeks. Now that I've added that new fan, it sure is taking a while to get back to 37°. It used to get there really quick before I added that fan today. Once it get them to 37° and stabilizes, I'll pour from the kegs again and check temp. If they are at...

Having problems with keezer temps..need advice

Yeah so the way I made the tower, 3 lines run in one side and two run in through the other side. Inside of the tower is 1.25" copper tubing from one side of the tower to the other, both going back into the keezer. There is a 1.25" copper tee at each tap where the line comes out and into the...

Having problems with keezer temps..need advice

One other thing I should mention, I already had the small fan in the upper left corner sitting in the keg. That one was there to try and recirculate the air in the keezer. I didn't think it was big enough so I ordered the big brother one and mounted it about 3" from the inside top lid, facing...

Having problems with keezer temps..need advice

Hey guys and gals! I built a new keezer specifically so I could have more capacity for kegs. I bought a brand new whirlpool 15 cu ft chest freezer and built it into a coffin keezer. I even fabricated a custom tower for it which I'm having cooling problems with as well. I need to play around with...

Having problems cold crashing with glycol

Yeah I'll have to watch it. From what I've read, that only happens if you try to crash to quick. I think from now on with these bigger batches, I will step down the temp from diacetyl rest to cold crash 5-10° at a time, let it rest until the pump quite kicking on and off and settles in, then...

Having problems cold crashing with glycol

Just curious but what did you end up insulating it with? So a quick update, i was finally able to get the Spike CF15 down to 35*(although it did take a long time). I called up the manufacture of my chiller and they walked me through how to get my controller to a lower set point. I set it to...

Having problems cold crashing with glycol

I guess I should have clarified a few things to help. The BH non jacketed I insulated with towels. Not sure how much that helped but I kept the towels folded so I could have more insulation. The room is usually between 78-80° ambient. It's in a spare bedroom. I don't get a ton of condensation...
