Witbier Blue Balls Belgian Wit (Blue Moon Clone)

my kegs are empty. busy summer. decided I'm going to brew up 20 gallons in one shot then split it off into 4 different beers. #1 the OG blueballs wit. #2 Grains of paradise, lemon zest, and some hallertauer dry hop. ( same adams summer spices) #3 Blueberry with 3lbs of frozen blueberries as a...

    Omega Lutra yeast?

All my lutra brews fermented outside in summer and hit close to 90. No temp control just a tarp to keep it out of direct sunlight. Took 2 to 3 days for most brews but usually took them down to 1.002-1.004. Never had any off flavors.

    New hop varieties

to avoid any grass flavors i whirlpool and use hop tea to "dry hop" with when it goes into the keg.

    New hop varieties

i have Hartwick which is also supposed to be an over ripe pineapple hop. i don't get a lot of pineapple either. just a clean tropical smell. i've brewed with it using just 1 oz at 60 and another 1 oz dry hop for 5 gallons and people got pineapple from that pale ale, but subtle. I tried to make...

    Fruit Beer Lemon-Lime Hefe Weizen

I made this back in 2018 when i was still new to brewing. I couldn't find the limeade so used frozen concentrate and originally didn't put enough in and it was bad. Added another can and it was great. but it slowly fermented out because majority of lime flavor faded. but i know better now. since...

    Fruit Beer Lemon-Lime Hefe Weizen

think it's time to brew this again. I have home grown sorachi ace hops and some wakatu hops which are also limey type NZ hops. I think i'll go a little bigger with dry hopping and lime zest. Because the corner of my kitchen is low 60's and i don't have a new ferm chamber yet i think i'm going...

    2022 hop harvest

This yr i did fairly well. just finished vac-sealing everything that was drying. Hartwhick - 24oz from 3 plants which is good considering growth was hindered by some Downey mildew that took a bit of work to get rid of and i had a 3rd plant elsewhere that was cut from my main plants last yr...

    Hartwick Hops

the DIPA came out great. little too high ABV %10 so only a few are drunk at a time. it's bitter, Fruity, and malty all at the same time is the best i can describe it. I might of put too much hops in. lol. for a 5 gal batch. 8lb 2-row 8lb marris otter 2lb 10oz flaked oats (quick oats cereal) 2 oz...

    When are hops ready?

This. Also when lupalin freely falls from the cones when you give them a squeeze. usually I start squeezing when i start seeing some brown on them.

    Arcadian Hops

old thread but i brewed up an Arcadian wheat beer earlier this summer finally. got no orange at all from the hops. to be honest it tasted more like a beer brewed with fuggle with an earthiness. it was pretty good. my recipe 5 lb - Red wheat 2 lb - Pale Ale 2-Row 1 lb - Rolled Oats Hops: 1...

    What’s wrong with my hops?

just an update. I had to cut a bunch more bines off at the root but eventually good ones came up. Both plants are pretty big and have started to flower!

    "emergency" Keezer build with collar

got it. the stainless is nice. i don't want to try and swap compressors. the condenser on r12 units are smaller than on newer units and may not cool as well. i'm going this route with either a bigger fridge or a window AC unit. https://lukecyca.com/2015/homemade-wooden-keg-fridge-part-2.html

    Homebrew Talk 3D Print Thread.

I agree. someone who doesn't have any back ground with electronics or automated machines should probably buy a more well known brand simply for the support. but once you can swap parts, calibrate e-steps and understand how it works you can buy a much cheaper printer and get the same results as...

    "emergency" Keezer build with collar

The bev air is R12. too cost prohibitive to try and fix the existing cooling system in there. And that's if i can get the proper parts or coolant. i've been cooking up a plan that theoretically should work according to my BIL who is an AC guy. if i get this thing fixed i'll put up a project log...

    "emergency" Keezer build with collar

don't know why i didn't think of taping the sensor to a bottle of water. I did that in my ferm chamber. this is an adjustment, having temp control. my other one was a knob with numbers and an arrow saying colder. :) i've raised my desired temp to 35 and will go higher i think. no more ice...

    "emergency" Keezer build with collar

I think i did pretty good with just a spade bit while it was in place. I have some magnet hooks coming for the drip tray and will color in the sides i forgot to paint. one thing i didn't think about. I put the temp sensor in the collar and by the time it got down to temp that high up my kegs had...

    "emergency" Keezer build with collar

the way i did it actually works out better. less height to lift the kegs. more progress. not sure if i'll just paint the unpainted board or fit some gasket material in there. i don't need the material i don't think. I put insulation on the inside of the collar and caulked the corners. the lids...

    "emergency" Keezer build with collar

busy weekend but got a few hrs to work on it. collar is painted black now and drying just to help protect the wood. I have some rough cut oak from pallets that will fit perfectly as trim pieces on the front and sides. those will be painted black also and clear coated. I ended up going with...
