    DIY Stainless Steel Fermenters

I have an AiH 10 gallon 2 port kettle that I'm hoping to try out soon as a fermenter. It didn't seal for crap when I tried it initially, due to not doing a good job with the cutting and gluing silicone tubing for a gasket. In the interim, I found a gasket that actually fits nicely from...

    Inkbird ITC-106 Manual Control

I'm getting my electric brewery going, and was trying to run the auto-tuning on my ITC-106VH yesterday. I wish I would have seen this beforehand! In hitting buttons (in lieu of actually reading the manual, I know I know...), I managed to turn on manual power mode doing this. I had the CTRL...

DIY/poor man's floating diptube for clear beer

The V2 looks great! I have a bunch of V1s that work very well, but I'm going to try swapping them out. I do a bunch of funky batches, but also big clean batches that I like to keg condition, so not having the plastic filter as a potential source of contamination will be great for me.

Lallemand "Sourvisiae" making sour brewing even simpler!

Definite advantages and disadvantages. It's hop tolerant, so it'll be a nice contrast since most lacto is so hop intolerant. OTOH, it will make a bracingly sour beer, final pH near 3.0! I can see this being a great tool for sour brewers, as it'd be an extremely easy way to make an acid beer for...

DIY Floating Dip Tube: I screwed stuff up so you don't have to!

I've been meaning to do this, but keep putting it off since I don't have the proper tools for it. A buddy has a Dremel, so might be able to use that.

DIY/poor man's floating diptube for clear beer

This was spot-on. I bought some 6mm tubing, like the Gusius instructions said to, and it works just fine! Rather than clogging up this post further, I made a post documenting the dumb things I did trying to get this to work. Figured it might be of interest to folks in this thread, wanting to...

DIY Floating Dip Tube: I screwed stuff up so you don't have to!

There is a great, clear, idiot-proof guide to creating an inexpensive, DIY floating dip tube that works like the more fancy Clear Beer Draught system at http://think.gusius.com/diy-keg-floating-dip-tube/. Unfortunately, since I'm likely an idiot, I managed to screw a couple things up. I figured...

DIY/poor man's floating diptube for clear beer

Yes, the 2nd picture was just testing the float. Step 1 was testing float + filter, step 2 was float, filter, and tubing, basically process of elimination. It floated with the tubing not attached to the diptube, so I don't think it's the weight of the silicone tubing. And yeah, silicone, not...

DIY/poor man's floating diptube for clear beer

So I'm trying to get the big-ass buoy-type floating dip tube working (using the http://think.gusius.com/diy-keg-floating-dip-tube plans), and I'm having a weird problem. The buoy and filter float just fine, when I add the weight of the tubing they float just fine, however, when I attach the...

Diptube Loses Flow At Bottom of Drilled Hole in Kettle

I'm sure y'all will be shocked, shocked! to read that this was a case of user error. The issue was that I didn't have the dip tube screwed on tightly enough. I had it on finger-tight, which didn't appear to be enough to engage the o-ring at the back of the nut. After cranking it down, it...

Diptube Loses Flow At Bottom of Drilled Hole in Kettle

Will take pictures. If it wasn't clear, the issue is figuring out why my kettle setup isn't let me maintain siphon, the dip tube itself is great.

Diptube Loses Flow At Bottom of Drilled Hole in Kettle

I'll check the o-ring on the dip tube, that may be it. I have my pump on the ground, with the tubing running from the barb to the pump, which is below the lowest point of the kettle. Bobby from Brew Hardware pointed that out to me. And I'm not at all sure that the heating element bulkhead is...

Diptube Loses Flow At Bottom of Drilled Hole in Kettle

I've done both, it stops at the same point. I'm assuming it was related to the element bulkhead, because that's the point where it stops. It'll pump out just fine above that level.

Diptube Loses Flow At Bottom of Drilled Hole in Kettle

I have a keggle with two holes drilled in it: 1/2" for a ball valve, and 3/4" for a heating element. With thread tape and o-rings, neither hole leaks. However, when I try to run wort out through my pump for chilling, the Brew Hardware edge pickup dip tube loses flow when the wort gets to the...

goodbelly ate insane amount of sugar?

Lacto alone won't produce that much of a gravity drop, you had some sacch or Brett or something in there as well. I've done a number of beers with sour worting in glass, and have never had this issue before, with either OYL-605 or Goodbelly. Gravity rarely changes by more than 2 points.

WTB: BrewHardware Pressure Transfer Rig for Barrels

I'm hoping someone on here has a Brew Hardware bulldog transfer rig that they wouldn't mind parting with. Would also be interested in other setups that are around the same new price range as the BrewHardware one (~$45 new). Strong preference for a single-piece build like the BrewHardware one...

    DIY Stainless Steel Fermenters

When your current batch is done, could you take a picture of your setup? I think I know what you mean, but pics would help. What material did you make the o-ring out of? Just standard silicone tubing? I'm gonna try to JB Weld the clamps on first, see if I can get away with that. If that...
