Leffe Brune (brown)- Any close clones?

Any updates on this recipe?? is it anything like Leffe Brun? This is probably my favorite brew on tap at the moment. "Next to Fullers ESB" I'm thinking of attempting this brew but only if it's very - slightly similar.

    Pilsner troubles

Sudbuster, I guess that could be possible, I purchased it from my LHBS. They had it in a fridge "not sure for how long" and I used it the day after purchasing it. The brew has a very pale "almost white" cloudy look to it. It's already in secondary so I'm not sure what I can add to make it a...

    Pilsner troubles

Good day. I brewed a batch of Pilsner from this website which called for 2 lbs of flaked rice. I ended up only using 1 since that's all I had. I transferred into secondary and had a taste. Oddly the only flavor I was getting is of rice and a hint of hops. No malt flavors at all. And.. it's...

    Primary Pilsner

Thanks for the link! I got home from work and ran down to my basement. To my surprise.. IT'S ALIVE! I guess I was just paranoid since I never had to wait more than 12hrs to see yeast working as this is my first attempt at Pilsner/Lager.

    Primary Pilsner

Really?? more than one packet?? wow.. it's $9+tax for one.. The yeast has a built in activator.. they call it a smack pack. The starting gravity was a little weak.. roughly 1.040. was aiming for 1.056 Thanks!

    Primary Pilsner

Is there any activity when fermenting with Lager yeast in the primary?? I'm getting zero action and It's sitting at about 13 degrees at the moment. Been well over 24hrs and still no foaming action... it's just sitting still.. I'm tempted to use my heat belt but am afraid to get off flavors...

    Adding Fermentables

AAHHHH... Panic Panic.. For some reason my efficiency dramatically dropped for this batch of beer and ended up with a reading of 1.035... Should have been 1.058. I've already pitched the yeast about 24 hours ago and now I'm wondering if I should or can add additional fermentables "corn...

    Lagering in plastic pale

I was more worried about oxygen getting to the beer because buckets aren't airtight unless you snap the lid. Even then.. not as air tight as a carboy with airlock.

International Pale Lager Something Like "Stella"

Hey.. Just wondering what temperature you mashed out at.. or if you did at all.. I plan on brewing this on the weekend so it will be ready in time for my birthday!

    Lagering in plastic pale

Good day. Is it common practice to lager in a plastic pale or should I transfer to a carboy prior to lagering? I'm nervous about leaving it in there for 4 weeks. My recipe doesn't mention transferring to a carboy.. Thanks! P.S. This is my first attempt at a Pilsner! I have a fridge to...

    Fermentation stopped @ 1.020

Had a taste and it's quite good!! Will get even better with more time bottle conditioning! I'll give it another month. Time to attempt a Pilsner!

    3rd attempt

I used a packet of dry Morgan's lager yeast. I was expecting it to ferment aggressively at first but it was rather calm. I'm also a little worried about getting bottle bombs since it was bottled prior to completion of fermentation

    3rd attempt

Good day and happy new years! I just bottled a batch of cider and sampled a glass while doing so. Normally I would use a champagne yeast and would get a fairly dry cider so this time I decided to try a lager yeast. This left me with a very sweet tasting cider. A little too sweet for my...

    Fermentation stopped @ 1.020

My biggest concern is Bottle Bombs! But they're safely stored in a plastic bin. I've made bottle bombs before with my first attempt at a hard cider. The Grolsch bottles don't seem to blow up.. but the content sure does once the top is popped. This was actually an all grain batch!. My first one...

    Fermentation stopped @ 1.020

Good day, Made a batch of maple porter and had it sitting in secondary at 15 degrees Celsius for over 2 weeks. There was no action in the airlock. Not even slight pressure. The beer measured 1.052 before primary and finished at 1.020. This means I'll have a fairly weak beer and quite...

    Tapped Keg

I extracted this text from my beer store's website... "To ensure the freshest quality beer, customers are encouraged to keep kegs cold at all times. Excessive movement and loss of temperature to the keg can result in a lower quality of beer. Once your keg has been tapped using your rental...

    Cooler too Big!

Thanks for the comments! I'd love to get the Home Depot bargain cooler but ours doesn't stock this "Up in Canada eh!" I'm using a chest style Coleman MaxCool from Costco. DrawTap, I like the Styrofoam suggestion but won't it decompose and release toxic ooze into my wort? Next time, I'll try...

    Cooler too Big!

Just brewed an AG batch of Maple Porter and it was rather frustrating! I'm wondering if anyone else had this problem. I'm using a 60L cooler and a digital cooking thermometer. The combination of slow temperature reading and too much overhead space in the cooler made the mashing a living...
