+1 to what passed pawn said. I did a peach coconut wheat Ale and 1lb of organic Whole Foods coconut was barely detectable. Next time I will add more or go entirely with Apex extract, which are very good extracts btw.

Based on what you state, I doubt the infection came from your sampling.

I am not really a fan of it. I just googled it out of curiosity to find out how they got the flavoring. That's how I found Apex.

I use Apex all of the time, but limit to 4-5ml per 5 gallon batch to start with. Even used it on a 5bbl batch brewed in a brew pub. I read on this forum DuClaw Sweet Baby Jesus used Apex so I tried them. Both are from the Baltimore area. Really like their Hazelnut and Caramel extract.

Morebeer has a new Cookie Dough Crystal malt from Viking malts. I got a pound but haven't used it yet. Anyone try it?

Caramel extract from Silver Cloud Estates. 5ml for a 5 gal batch. Won a small club event and got to brew it on a local brewpub system.

Just brewed a caramel smoked Porter with 1028. Didn't show any signs of a good starter either but pitched and it was fine.

Queen of the South and Ozark are very good IMO.

Just brewed a brown IPA recipe from Josh Weikert, a very respected homebrewer. He suggested Phoenix hops for a chocolate flavor and he was dead on!

My daughter is raising a service dog puppy. This weekend we got to dog sit a 2 year old almost ready for placement. Coupled with my 14 year old black lab it was a hectic, but happy weekend!

Been a few years but there's a decent brew pub behind the convention center in a old building that has good stuff. Great BBQ place right down the street with a good tap list. Very good bottle shop downtown a few blocks from Marriott. Lots of local bars feature local brews. Sorry I can't remember...
