Bottle conditioning highly flocculant yeast (Kveik)

That's an interesting question, I just got some Voss Kveik from Omega and haven't used it yet.

    What fermenter are you using?

A 60L Speidel in Canada appears to be worth 2 SS Anvil brew buckets.

    What fermenter are you using?

Ooh slick. I'm just using PET carboys right now. Moving to Fermonsters, might go to SS buckets someday but damn they're expensive.

    Chance of blowoff tube clogging?

I forgot to take pictures but it did spit up all over itself, not to messy but noticeable.

    Chance of blowoff tube clogging?

Well it's still bucking away, doesn't seem any worse for it.

    Chance of blowoff tube clogging?

I don't know what happened last night but my blow off tube was on the floor this morning and there was dried krausen on a bunch of stuff. It was a 1/2" tube too and when I picked it up to wash it

    Burners: SP10 vs KAB4

I have one of each, I use the SP10 for heating the strike water as it was my first burner. I use the KAB4 for my boil and I've had to adjust my times and math as it boils a lot stronger than the SP10 does. It requires me paying more attention.

    Stacked 3 Tier Stand

If you're batch sparging you can likely get away with a 5 gallon mash tun, it will be tight but it might work. I used a 10 gallon one to be safe. For an HLT it will probably work. Nice rig, your idea is basically the same as mine but we used steel instead of wood. You'res looks really nice...

Cloudy Star San - Feedback from Five Star

I've noticed the slimy feeling too, not entirely sure where that comes from. I try not to leave anything soaking in it to long anymore. Also it really blackens the metal bits on some of the stuff I use.

Show us your sculpture or brew rig

Pure gravity system, it's been modified a bit since this picture but I haven't taken another one yet. So far it's working well.

Starter: how long to keep on stir plate?

I've been using my stir plate successfully for quite a while now, I don't turn it up to vortex force so I'm not particularly worried about harming the yeast.

How do you remove chlorine forming crystals/salts from a carboy?

Actually I think that's what it was, soap residue issues.

Cloudy Star San - Feedback from Five Star

That honestly sounds like two different issues, you probably needed to be more thorough the starsan was just something they fixated on. My starsan goes cloudy almost immediately and have never given me any trouble.

How do you remove chlorine forming crystals/salts from a carboy?

Mostly that the soap stuck around more and could interact with the beer, hence all the PBW, Oxiclean, etc.. uses. Not sure where I got that idea from though.

How do you remove chlorine forming crystals/salts from a carboy?

I was kind of under the impression using dish soap in brewing equipment was a bad idea to begin with.

How long can you store crushed grains?

The Brulosophy guys just did a brew with old crushed grain. It appears the primary impact assuming it doesn't mold is that the grain loses fermentability over time. Which while not optimal is not really the end of the world.

    Drinking starsan

Yeah I wouldn't stress overmuch. It may not taste great but it shouldn't hurt you.
