Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

Yep.. that happened. Oh well. I guess I really didn't need to know.

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

You mentioned your reason was the difference in price was 10 years of gas. I'm wondering what the calculation would be taking into account the savings in fuel cost and maintenance. That's it. Usually when all is considered the EV comes out less especially over 10 years time. Unless of course...

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

I guess I was interested in the full calculation including savings in the differences in fuel vs electric cost per mile and maintenance savings. Over time these generally save more then the vehicle cost difference.

Even if you take into account the cost savings on fuel and maintenance?

If you are into the engineering of it all Munro Live on youtube has teardown videos of most all electric vehicles and then they comment on the design and quality. I know they have done quite a few on the MachE.

Mash Caps... Let me see what you got!

On the cold side larger breweries are concerned with parts per billion of oxygen during handling after fermentation and package filling. Same malt flavor compounds being oxidized. In the Lodo world those with in-process oxygen sensors get concerned when we see anything other then 0.0 ppm on the...

Mash Caps... Let me see what you got!

I have the same brand cap as you show in your pictures. I have reworked the lip so that it makes it taller and more buoyant. Just works out with my kettle to have about ~1/16" all the way round so the cap wont drag and can easily follow the volume fluctuations due to temperature change, adding...

Mash Caps... Let me see what you got!

Mashcaps really do need to float freely with full contact to the surface of the liquid and not drag along the vessel wall. Doing what you describe is not helping reduce oxygen exposure in the least. You are not only sealing out air but also sealing it in. The result is a wash. Also consider the...

My reduced loads panel just has the important stuff like fridge, freezers, beer cooler etc. connected. Forgot to mention the 8 kw of solar on the roof so in reality I wont really ever get to test the week calculation unless the sun were to turn off. Oh and I don't drink coffee. ;)

Still blows my mind you can have a car power your house in an outage. It really is a wonderful idea. I have 12 kwh of backup batteries and that cost more per kilowatt then if I'd ordered it with 4 wheels attached. That 12 will last maybe a week or so with just reduced loads. Conversely with the...

Cool car! Plus bi directional charging. Nice.

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

Efficiently managing your KE is quite easy with the single pedal system, at least in a Tesla. Neutral or coasting (no power into or out of the drive motors) is roughly mid accelerator pedal. With a little bit of practice you can feel this spot from inertia and experience but also can be...

Maybe we aren't comparing the same thing? I only have experience with the Tesla version.

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

Nope. They are all pretty basic. The money you spend is going toward battery and technology. I mostly look at the UI and so don't really GAF.

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

Once you get used to it (10 minutes) it becomes natural and hard to drive any other way. With single pedal driving, you have full authority of the rate of acceleration and also the rate of deceleration. Unlike before you could only modulate acceleration and coasting was always at the same rate...

Or just a tiny fraction of the money the oil companies spend on manufacturing lies and BS such as the supposed 'Chicago all the EV died' event. We could be filthy rich.

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

Here is an article that talks a bit about that. "In the early days of testing the Rivian vans, some drivers voiced concerns about range. An Amazon spokesperson told CNBC the vans can travel up to 150 miles on a single charge, which is typically plenty of power for a full shift and allows...

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

The wife of a guy who worked for me had a fairly mild accident in an Audi A4 wagon. Had to order the parts from Germany. The wait to be fixed was 14 months. This is nothing Tesla specific.

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

Thank goodness someone came in here to warn us of this impending danger. I may have to sell my electric cars tomorrow. On the other hand if you look up the statistics gas and diesel vehicles are 61 times more likely to burst into flames then an EV. Hmm what should I do?

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

I can't see how this is much different then a Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Porsche ect. They all cost huge dollars to fix, even small stuff. To me this is similar to the other edge cases that are tossed about to scare people away from EV adoption. I mean how many people will actually get in an...
