    I have these ingredients

    3 lb. amber lme, 3 lb. light lme ,1lb. light dme, 2 oz. cascade , 1lb carmal 20 for steeping, 1 pack Safale S-05 ale yeast. I think 1 lb. of carmal 20 is to much ?     True Brew All Malt Amber

    I'm a greenhorn brewer also and brewed the same kit as you on Dec.1.Just botteled it and it's pretty bitter also.The lme was hopped and it came with 1 oz. of cascade that i added after the extract quit foaming then let it boil for 30 min.Tasted purdy good, i drank about 8 oz.lol Maybe just the hops.

    Kinda late to reply i guess but i am getting ready to brew this batch tonight. As to the IBUs, the can of hopped lme says bitterness (ebu)45-55 so i'm thinkin thats good and will add the hops as you recomended. i also changed the yeast to nottingham.Thanks for the help and forgive my ignorance...
