    Fridge/freezer fermentation chamber HELP!!!

It depends on the type of fridge/freezer that you have. Is the fan that pulls air form the freezer controlled by a thermostat or is there just a damper on a fan? If there is a thermostat you might be ok, but if there is a damper you probably wont be able to get enough airflow to keep the fridge...

    Pilsner Problem

Hemidoc- Your recipe sounds fine, not necessarily traditional but should end up with a good beer regardless. What parts of my recommendations are you saying are beyond your abilities? The water part isn't super critic and as black island discussed, there are other acceptable fermentation...

    Pilsner Problem

I would eliminate the crystal from the recipe all together, crystal malt has no place in a traditional pilsner recipe. Assuming you are brewing a bohemian pilsner (seems like it based upon the Saaz hops), it is traditionally brewed with 100% pilsner malt using a triple decoction mash method...

Need Help with Ignition and Valves to work like Blichmann Tower of Power

Any luck with this? I have been reserching for the past few days and can't find a solution. One idea that I had is to use a second PID controller w/ a NO relay attached to a thermocouple probe that is posistioned over the pilot light. You could then set the PID controller at a few hundred...

Fermenter Stopper Shot Up To Ceiling????

As others have mentioned 75 degree ambient is wayyy to high for nottingham. That being said, with a fast fermenting yeast like nottingham all those esters and funky flavors are going to be produced in the first 36-48 hours of fermentation. So basically the damage is done. Yeast can do a pretty...

    Chest Freezer/Kegerator Question

Did you lay the chest freezer down on its side during transport? If so, did you let it rest for several hours in the upright position when you got it home before plugging it in?

    Stir Plate Question

I always try to pitch when the yeast is actively fermenting, not after it has settled out. For a small starter (<2L for 5.5 gallon batch) I will time my starter to pitch at high krausen (~18 hrs in) with the starter on the stir plate the whole time. For larger starters (>2L for 5.5 gallon...
