    Two Brother's Domaine DuPage recipe

Considering I live about a mile from the brewery this is one recipe I have been thinking about too. The Brewers Coop is definitely an afterthought for them these days.

My first failed All Grain beer after 10 good?

If the pot was aluminum and you did not build up a passive oxide layer before boiling your first brew then I think it would definitely taste weird, especially combined with the Belgain yeast strain. My understanding though is that the flavors taste metallic...

My first failed All Grain beer after 10 good?

Was the turkey pot brand spankin' new for the Trappist?

    Redhead Brewing Co.

Since I started brewing at the beginning of the year crafting a great label has been a labor of love. By day, and by night, I earn my keep by providing great creative work for my clients. Personal projects always come after paying projects. I've definitely had the name and label theme in mind...

Adding a cinnamon stick to secondary, too much?

Thanks! That was exactly the feedback I had hoped for. I purchased some pasteurized no-preservative apple cider this morning to possibly throw into secondary. I'm thinking of using a 1/4 gallon or 1/2 gallon. I'll draw another Ale sample and mix the cider proportionally to see if I like it...

How should I pay someone back for free hops?

What about sending over a catered lunch to the workers? Not sure how remote the farm is located so it may not be a feasible option. A platter of Subway sandwiches isn't that expensive and everyone eats, not everyone drinks and sometimes the farmhands are kids.

Adding a cinnamon stick to secondary, too much?

I've brewed the AHS Holiday Ale all-grain kit and after a week of primary I just took some samples. It's nice but a little bland (for my taste) on the spice notes at this point and also a touch dry. To kick it up a notch in secondary would you a) add a cinnamon stick (or maybe half if one whole...

    First All Grain try, BIAB

I BiaB as well. My stovetop setup has been getting anywhere from 60-75% efficiency. I toss in a cup of LDME at flameout to boost the alcohol % a little bit. Having just purchased a burner from Menards' I'll be changing my setup in hopes of achieving better results. I've done four all-grain...

Accidental Cold Crash? - Do I need to repitch

I'm no expert but there is no need to worry. The cold will only help clarify the beer at this point. If you are going to bottle within the next week, then I'd say keep them cold and raise back up to room temperature the day of bottling. I'm actually in the process of cold crashing my Irish Ale...

    OG short by about .06

I'm not worried about the alcohol content so much, just want to get some great results. As for the boil, I usually back off of the hard rolling boils so that it's steady. I think for the future I'm just gonna let err rip since I'm usually boiling 6.5 gallons in a 10 gallon brew pot. Thanks...

    OG short by about .06

I just brewed my Xmas Ale this morning and discovered that my post-boil OG was 1.042 (way down from 1.052) due lack of evaporation during boil. Couldn't get a good 7gal rolling boil going with the house windows open and cold weather. Have to keep the windows open or the wife complains of the...

    Is this grain too old?

Saturday, I brewed an Irish Red kit that I bought from AHS in March. We'll see how that turns out.

Dry Hopping, Racking, and hop material

I used hop pellets to dry hop with but I must have stirred them up when I move from the closet to the table. The sanitized mesh bag trick sounds perfect since I already own this and it sounds simple. Thanks!

Dry Hopping, Racking, and hop material

The IPA that I brewed two weeks ago was my first attempt at dry hopping. After about 9 days in primary I popped open the lid and dumped the 3oz of hops right on top. Today was day 5 of dry hopping and time to rack to the bottling bucket. Immediately I noticed that the primary was full of hop...

    Full Boil on Stovetop?

Mine measured just over 15 1/4" with the lid on. With the lid on the handle probably makes up that extra 3/4". I have about 15 1/2" space so it's a tight fit but it fits.

    Full Boil on Stovetop?

The 10g alum pot from Royal Palm just barel fits under the microwave hood with the lid on. Maybe an 1/8" of space in between. I would definitely recommend taking a measurement to make sure it fits.
