    Filling a Sanke

Just came here to confirm this. I kegged my first batch last night in a 1/4 bbl slim sanke. Pull ring (which can be a PITA), turn spear until the 'tabs' are lined up and simply pull it out. Fill, then do what you did in reverse.

Why don't I see people using full size 'traditional' kegs for homebrew?

I haunt craigslist, constantly. I recommend using Ifttt.com and setting up a rule for each search you do daily. You will get a message any time your search turns up results. I have gotten so many ridiculous deals this way.

Why don't I see people using full size 'traditional' kegs for homebrew?

Haha! His actual comment as I gave him the cash - "the wife wants it gone, now it's [expletive deleted]'in gone". I suspect she was the one I was texting with about picking it up...

Why don't I see people using full size 'traditional' kegs for homebrew?

So I ended up compromising, to a degree. I got a 1/4 barrel slim. Actually got a really nice deal. Found a kegerator with an 11.3 kg co2 tank, tower on top, 1/4 barrel slim keg and all the hookups for $50! In working condition with beer in it! Gotta love craigslist...

    Cheap Copper for Wort Chiller

Just an FYI for anyone looking to make their own chiller. IF no one sees any issues with using this stuff for a chiller, this seems to be a great price for the copper itself. http://www.hardwareworld.com/22100045x-38x25ft-Handi-Coil-pRNH981.aspx

HELP - did I mess up on wine making?

The purpose of the airlock is to let the co2 out and nothing back in. Technically, as long as nothing gets into the wine you could ferment without an airlock at all (I personally don't recommend this). It just keeps stuff out is all. The airlock does not start or stop the fermentation. If I am...

    Beer Can Chicken

I love cooking a yardbird this way. I like to put a couple pieces of garlic and some seasonings in the beer can. The first half of the cooking time, I also like to make a little foil tent to go over the bird. I like to think it helps keep the moisture in. :drunk:

Best way to clean used bottles

Although, I am still waiting on my first batch to ferment, I have cleaned about 250 bottles. Revvy knows what the deal is. His method works. I just fill the tub up with hot water, mix in oxyclean, soak for several hours. Some of the labels just fall right off, some are more stubborn. I find that...

    Hot as Heck Brewday Documentation

I feel your pain, here in Texas we rarely see a cool day in the summer. On top of it, my first brew got rained out on a clear hot day! Just keep on keepin' on. :)

    Brewery names--what's your story?

I brew with my two brothers and we are all new to this. Here are a few that we have been kicking around: 3 Degrees of Stoopid 3 Blind Minds 3mpty Headspace It's fun to come up with them, though. You all have some very great and entertaining names! Tons of inspiration here, keep up the good work!

Why don't I see people using full size 'traditional' kegs for homebrew?

Wow, the response here is absolutely phenomenal. What I thought was going to be such a noob question it would get laughed out, has instead provided a wealth of insight. I really appreciate what you all do here. I think I may stay a while. :)

Why don't I see people using full size 'traditional' kegs for homebrew?

In many forums, people I talk to and internet research, I mainly see the use of corny kegs employed. My main query addresses the larger traditional kegs that one would have filled at a commercial location. Is it more difficult or just that much less convenient for homebrewers or something? I...

Impressed by Northern Brwwer's customer service

These people provide absolutely awesome customer service! They are very personal and respond to you directly instead of using auto-responses and scripts. They definitely get my business and recommendation, any day.
