Need some advice for indoors brewing - any help much appreciated!

I do BIAB in two 5 gallon pots, roughly 3 gallons in each pot. One is on my glass top stove and one on a $45 induction burner. Works great and I like moving 3 gallons at a time better than 6 gallons. Once you practice a couple times, you can do two pots in almost the same time as one large...

    FTSs/airlock question

Air would be getting sucked into your fermenter if it was getting cooled rapidly and the headspace gas contracts. If a good portion of the cooling coil was above the liquid level, you could be chilling the headspace gas quickly and causing it to contract.

    New Wireless Keg Monitor: Kegtron

Yes indeed, I can confirm that they work quite well.

Is double crush a waste of time?

I got the same response from my guy. After a couple times buying from him I bought my own mill for $90 and now buy my grain uncrushed from Morebeer. It's cheaper and I can crush fine the first time.

    New Wireless Keg Monitor: Kegtron

Why the Kickstarter campaign? I've seen too many of these that flop or early investors wait months and months for product.

Anybody else this lazy and cheap?

Those are Keg Level Indicators. I got them from Ball and Keg on line. They are pretty darned handy actually.

Anybody else this lazy and cheap?

That's funny. The one in front left came from a buddy who was homebrewing back in the 80's. It's a true Cornelius and I love it. It's still spotless on the inside and seals perfectly.

    I'm starting to feel better!

Anybody else this lazy and cheap?

So, ten years ago I set up this kegerator with the intent of adding taps and handles to the door. You can see how that turned out...... Still works just fine, but I really need to get on that project.

    White Labs lawsuit

I have been on a detailed tour of the brewery and it is one of the trashier looking breweries I've seen. I find it hard to believe that they would not be testing yeast for quality before they added it to their product. If I were running a yeast lab, I would absolutely not sell to these folks...

    Induction Kettle

You bet. I got this one. It's $46 for Prime members right now. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01L2OH52S/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20 I leave the lid on my pot when heating and take it off once it is close to boiling. That probably saves 5 or 10 minutes. You want to make sure you have an...

    Induction Kettle

I have an 1800 watt induction plate that I bought from Amazon for $50 and it works great. I can boil 3 gallons no problem. In fact, I run it at 1200 watts once the boil starts.

    Azacca with Centennial?

Update - Dry hopped with 3 oz of Azacca last weekend and kegged it Thursday. Awesome! Thanks for the feedback.

Most annoying response when you tell someone you're a homebrewer?

I have a sister-in-law that actually likes some of my beers and ciders. Last Christmas she asked for a taste of my IPA, but I've learned that she doesn't really like hop forward beers. I tried to talk her out of it, but she finally pushed me into giving her a small glass for a taste. She made...

    Head formation/retention

I like to add a 1/2 pound of carapils. I also find that the head retention improves considerably with a few weeks of conditioning time in the keg or bottles.

    Tracking beers from keg

So I ordered one of the keg level indicators from www.ballandkeg.com after seeing your post. Ordered it Friday and received it on Monday. I put it into a keg Tuesday and drank a few pints (naturally). I will say that it worked quite well for the price and is easily visible when I open my...

    Clearing Beer - Why?

Does anyone feel like S05 doesn't clear as well as it used to? I used to never gelatin fine and it would clear in a couple weeks in the keg. If I skip gelatin lately, it's pretty cloudy for weeks.
