    NW Irish Red Ale

Ok, finally got this started. Should have known this would be a difficult brew day or days. Starter began on Friday night LHBS closed early on Sat. Then I missed closing on Sunday by minutes. On Tuesday when LHBS reopened they were out of crystal 40 so I went with a 60/40 mix of crystal 20/60...

    NW Irish Red Ale

I have been playing around the a grain bill and hop schedule for a hoppy Irish Red. This will be a partial mash. I was aiming for a malty/toast medium body with hop aroma. Silver City Red and Cascade Lake IRA are examples; Silver City for malt profile and mouth feel and Cascade Lake for Hop...

    American Brown Ale Reciepe

This is my first American Brown Ale, would appreciate comments on the extract with specialty grain recipe, I will steep specialty grains and mash Munich Malt and Honey Malt. Thoughts on dry hopping with Citra? I might just use the left over cascade/Willamette. 5.5 gallon batch 60 min boil...

    imperial red ale- more red?

You are also correct adding 2 to 4oz of roasted barely will also give more color. I put the grain bill into the free beer calculator at byo.com and adding 2 ounces of roasted barley 300 should give you a nice red color.

Yooper Thank you. Yes the Extract is added with 15 minutes left, to bring the OG up to 1.070. I thought that the OG effected hop utilization? Learn something new each time I talk with some one. DME 60 min LME Flame out New Hop Schedule (60 min boil) Warrior (18.2%) 0.5 oz 60 min...
