Fishers, IN (Indianapolis, IN) Homebrewing Club

I am in Zionsville, and looking for a beer club to join. I have been brewing a little of a year all extract. I did brew with guys at Tuxedo and they taught me the basics on grain. Did you Fishers guys join FBI? Thanks

How to reach 10 percent ABV?

http://www.northernbrewer.com/documentation/beerkits/BlackIPA.pdf Here is a link to the kit. So it was 9.5 of malt syrup. My bad for the mistake. I thought it was Candy syrup. My batch did not turn out no big surprise there. I understand brewing is serious and important. I have only...

How to reach 10 percent ABV?

I have brewed 2 kits from http://www.highgravitybrew.com One was 9.75% and the other was 8.5%. Northern brewers Black IPA is over 10%. It calls for sugar at the end of the boil. Some of the Triple Belgian kits are close to 10%. My problem with some of these kits is you really need a yeast...

    To all the extract haters

After a year of extract brewing I am looking to make the jump to all grain. Extract brewing is awesome and does not take up that much time but I feel like the next step to become a great brewer is all grain.

    Yeast stalled?

How do you know if the yeast stalled out on you? The kit called for 7 day in the primary SG 1.40 Transferred to secondary and I am still at 1.40? This is a strong farm house ale. Thoughts?

    Black IPA with Extract

I brewed NB's Black IPA and had some problems with it. There is so much sugar in this kit that when I bottled they carbed up really fast. I have volcanoes with 22oz bottles. The kit calls for 1lb of corn sugar at the end of the boil. I am a rookie so I am sure I did a couple of thing wrong.

    carboy vs bucket

Thanks for the feed back. So in a bucket the extra room vs carboy has no impact on fermentation. Thanks

    carboy vs bucket

I would like some feedback on what is better for both primary fermentation and secondary. I switched to a bucket for primary because it is easier to transport. I can't tell if it's having an impact on the brewing process. Thoughts? Thanks

    floaters

    Thanks

    floaters

I made a 2X IPA kit that called for a dry hop for 2 weeks in the secondary. When I bottled (22oz) I have a lot of floaters. Will dry hopping 2 weeks create floaters? The floaters looks like dissolved hops.

    Farm House Ale

Good info thank you! QUOTE=Calder;3943889]The traditional Saisons of 100 years ago were generally low in alcohol (so the workers would still be able to work), but more modern examples are quite high in alcohol (6 to 8%). There is usually very little hop flavor to it, the flavor is...

    Farm House Ale

I thinking of brewing a Farm House ale kit. My basement could simulate a cellar during the fermentation process. I have never had a farm house ale. Is there a large variations in styles? Thanks

    Jamil's Belgian Dark Strong cloying

I am a super rookie but I did 3x Belgian that came out sweet. These high gravity beers really need a yeast starter. Mine really did not turn out well. After 90 days it was still on the sweet side.
