Brewing School, who has been, where.

Subbed, I've been looking at a few, I'm curious what former students have to say

Best way to mash small batches (1,5 gallons/6 liters)?

When I first started biab I was only doing 1-2 gallon batches. I just used my bk and would turn a bakery from a turkey fryer upside down. Mash, wait, rinse grains with storage water and just let it drip for 30 minutes. It's not the most efficient in terms of time but I've always hit my og...

    GOOD on Netflix STREAMING?

The first avp wasn't awful. Aliens and alien resurrection were more action oriented and alien/alien 3 were more tense. I wish they would have stuck with one idea for prometheus instead of overhauling all the writing several times

    GOOD on Netflix STREAMING?

The whole Quadrillogy was awesome. The weakest of the four is resurrection, and if that's the worst you can do, good job. I Stull haven't watched predators but I have to admit, the 2 avp movies were kinda dumb. Rumor mill has been steadily churning out alien 5 bs but hopefully it will get...

    New homebrew shop in Pasco

I've been keeping up with them on Facebook, looks like I'll be going to vetterbrew for my 5 gallon batches, DK for misc supplies and anytime I want to just do a kit or some simple 1 gallon test batches and I'll head of to Southern for events and such. Southern still has the best beer in the area

Whats your homebrew for St Pattys?

BB Irish stout kit. Got lazy lol. Wanted to do a red and decided the kit was just easier. Hopefully I'll still have some of my esb by then

    Thanks

    Sour Funky Cider

Sounds good. I did sour graff with wyeast 1368 and cuvee rene dregs. Added 2 quarts of esb wort to 1 gallon of Target brand spiced cider. Put 1 gallon on peaches and now we wait

    Star San and yeast

I too have hearts star an breaks down into a yeast nutrient and one shouldn't fear the foam, but does anyone know what exactly it breaks down into?

Is there a minimum amount of time for secodnary

FWIW I've since stopped using a secondary all together except with sours or anything else I bulk age. I dry Hop in primary too. I just bottled an esb Sunday, at no point did I filter during the brewing process and aside from not disturbing the cake during transfer to my bottling bucket did I...

What I did for beer today

Bottled esb, about to rack sour graff onto peaches

    First Batch of 2015

Nice. Haven't brewed yet, but I'm sitting on a BB Irish stout kit I'm going to do Thursday. Just finished bottling the last batch of 2014(esb), and I'm taking a small break before racking a sour graff onto peaches.

Brew Your Own Magazine worth it?

AHA membership also opens the door for competitions and such. Off topic some, but another plus if you do the competition thing.

Brew Your Own Magazine worth it?

I'm thinking about it. I'm tien between BYO and an AHA membership for Zymurgy add mentioned above. I will say this though, I always end up at the BYO website reading available articles when researching something, and I end up in a black hole thanks to style profile.

Android app allowing percentage input rather then volume.

I'm looking for an app for android that will allow me to just enter the percentage of grains, adjuncts, etc. Vs volume/weight. Well, I'm looking for a free one. I know I could buy one that will do it but I'm frugal (i.e married)

Picked up some classic sours to try...

I'm a big fan of the cuvee rene, but I found I had to pull the bottle out of the fridge and let it warm up some. It still has some of the Bitterness but when it was cold it was like a mouthful of grapefruit pith

    Brett in RIS

Thanks for the help. I think I'll pick up the 3711 or the Danstar and give that a try. If it doesn't work, oh well, I'll just have to tweak it and try again

    why would a pre-assembled kit....

I just always ended adding anything at the moment I ended the boil. I started doing PM though and just do 3-3.3 lbs depending on if I'm using dme/lme, so I see the point doing it like that, I'll have to give that a try.
