    Gah! Rusty burner!

Mine is rusty as hell because I leave it outside but it still works awesome! Once I have my brewstand I'm going to buy a large grill cover or tarp...or bring it inside, lol. Apartment brewing on a balcony sucks.

    yeast washing pumpkin ale???

I actually just washed yeast from a pumpkin ale to use in a rye ipa. I guess it didn't occur to me until right when I shook up the yeast slurry and pitched it that the container had a heavy pumpkin spice aroma. I'll let you know how it comes out but I think the IBU's in the IPA will overpower...

    puzzling final gravities

I agree with Yooper; calibrate your thermometer (look it up on youtube if you're unsure). Also, you might want to look into the yeast...how about getting into some simple starters and going into liquid yeast? Are you aerating your wort by shaking, air stone, or not at all? Also, another biggy...

2 Brews - 1 day! A lot of work it is!

I did a double about a month ago...never again. Like someone said, it makes brewing more of a chore than a hobby. It took me about 10 hours with cleanup, prep, recipe formulating, etc. Glad I did it though, I had to make sure all my beers were ready for this weekend...vacation starts this...

    Blow Off System

I like the 3 piece airlock method...use it personally and love it. But be careful when you remove the tubing from the airlock, it'll break if you try to pull on it. You want to put some water in the microwave for 3 minutes then soak the tubing and airlock in there for a few seconds and it'll...

    Skipping out on pumpkin

I'm making one next week....I'll be making my own pumpkin pulp puree and caramelizing it for a sweeter taste. Might even add some brown sugar too. I really want a nice sweet and full pumpkin taste that complements the spices. I'll use about 1/2 lb. of rice hulls for the mash so I don't have...
