Combining Yeast Strains either Serial or Parallel

Just curious on anyone that has used multiple yeasts for a brew. I've made a Cream Ale in the past using pairing WLP001 (CA Ale) and WLP002 (English Ale) together; thus parallel use of yeasts. This Cream Ale was called 'Trailer Trash Twins' as it was a quickie without expectations using the...

    Should I worry?

Thanks. I'll go back to drinking beer. Pitching the yeast tomorrow.

    Should I worry?

I have my own worrying today. I started a 5 liter flask of WLP830 for a 1.091 Doppelbock before going to bed last night. This morning it was looking good, but upon coming home from work the aluminum foil cap on the flask had gotten blown off. Not sure how long it was off from yeast expansion, as...

    Cleanest alcohol Beer

Fermenting under pressure helps. I ferment in 5 gallon keg and shoot for 13psi using a modified pressure relief valve that my son (mathematician) designed. Sometimes an issue with wort coming out the valve, but never had an infection.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

I've had trouble making starter that sat too long - ended up with an infection. Be careful.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Making 4.2 gallons of Doppelbock to be fermented under 13psi that will become Eisbock. It will not be ready until 2021. OG=1.091 and shooting for FG=1.022 with a goal of 9.9% using WLP830. Required just shy of 21 pounds of grain. IBU and SRM both 25. Magnum and Hallertau Mittelfruh with...

    Cleanest alcohol Beer

I have an award winning BJCP 1A at 3.5% and 103 calories that you could drink it forever without any issues other than spending half the time relieving yourself.

    can I ask this question?

Dry ice (-109F) around a stainless container is your best option to extract the most water

Who's brewing low ABV beers for the plague?

For self-consumption, I brew lots of BJCP 1A Light American Lager. Typically 3.5% to 3.9% ABV. They have been so clean that they get 40+ points in competitions and are award winning. Great session beers. My last batch I tried Wyeast 2124 though, and am debating on dumping 15 gallons as there is...

    Do brands of Kegs matter?

I would not recommend Torpedo kegs for at least the following reasons: 1) keg posts are not standard if you measure with a micrometer and it is difficult to put connectors on (I ended up getting replacement posts), 2) the poppet assemblies are different.

I still have the HTTP 501 on the two machines. When I went into the web site, I have to swap to http - can't use https. Three machines (2 Z and 1 PC) with the same issue.

This morning there is an HTTP 501 which means their SSL Certificate is no longer working. Go to PicoBrew and you get http not https Your machines (except Zymatic) will no longer work

The worst piece of brewing gear you have lost?

PicoBrew support on their software has been lost (seems to have been sabotaged); all of PicoBrew may be lost at the rate the receivership went

Can I make and split a yeast starter indefinitely?

My 250ml look like a flask (fat at bottom skinny at top) - that makes it difficult

Can I make and split a yeast starter indefinitely?

Last weekend I pulled a bottle of WLP810 that was over a year old. I spun it back to life and made three five gallon kegs of lager - Intl Dark, Vienna and Marzen. They are sitting in kegerator at 50F fermenting. I saved off the WLP810 for the next time.

Can I make and split a yeast starter indefinitely?

These cost (I think) $10 each.

Can I make and split a yeast starter indefinitely?

I also have the 250ml, but the shape makes it hard to apply blue tape (what I use to label them). I think the 250ml came from Amazon
