Brewing now: made noobie mistake advice needed

In reality it would have been 3.6 grams per hop every 15 minutes. 7.2 grams of the amarillo at flameout. I put in 12.3 of each at 60 minutes. After a 15 boil of the LME. Hope this makes more sense.

Brewing now: made noobie mistake advice needed

Long story short, I am brewing a IPA the recipe called for 1/2 once of 3 different hops to be added at 15 minute intervals. By a calulation mistake I dumped in the entire 1/2 once at the beginning of the 60 minute boil. It calls for another .25 at flameout and a 10 day dry hopping. Any advice...

    First real batch noob questions

Your yeast won't die they just get less active once all the sugars have been converted. If you decide to ferment entirely in the primary TRY to wait at least 4 weeks, then go straight to bottles.

    Hello from Texas...

Man sorry to hear that. I couldn't imagine going anywhere else. I am a brand noob and ask some stupid stuff sometime and they have always been very helpful and courteous about it. The young guy there can seem a little disconnected sometime. But I haven't seen him in awhile. There is a new...

Rethinking the logic of cold crashing

I was under the impression that you cold crash after secondary. That said if you don't secondary then I would think you wouldn't cold crash until it has been in your primary for 4 weeks. Just my understanding.

    Hello from Texas...

Not to highjack but that's incredible to me. They have always been nothing but nice (to me), even on the busiest days. But I do tend to stay away on weekends or during lunch hours. Where do you shop?

Bottling from a 1 Gallon Carboy

I actually use a regular racking cane and bottle filler. Was this your primary? Is there cake on the bottom? My LHBS has a little clip that will fit the racking cane and help to stay suspended above the cake. I put it in about half way and then lower as needed. I put a folded dish towel...

i know i should relax but...

No, I am a noob also, so someone with more experience may correct me , but I believe 1-2-3, or 2-2-3 or what ever formula each person use is more of a minimum for us impatient people. You should be able to leave it in the primary/secondary as long as you like (within reason). I just tasted a...

    What is this? If anything

No, I put them in a mesh sock that was too small and they ended up being a really tight ball instead of dispersing. It's actually very good, just not bitter. I will get the recipe out tomorrow.

    What is this? If anything

I made a Pale Ale but due to a rookie mistake didn't get any bittering. So now I have a very sweet beer. Is there a named beer that is a basically a Pale Ale without the bitterness? Thanks, :fro:

    Advice needed about carbing

Thanks for the replies. I popped one open to ad a little dextrose and low and behold this one seemed to be carbed. I recapped that one and popped it in the fridge until tonight. I tipped and swirled the rest and put them back to hopefully finish.

    Advice needed about carbing

I bottled up a gallon or so of a Pale Ale about 2 weeks ago. It still has no carbonation. I put a measured amount of sugar solution in each bottle then siphoned in the beer. I have read around the site and have come to the conclusion that the beer may have been too cold when I bottled. It...

    Partial Bottling

This is another one of the reasons I want to try this. I have tried this before. 3/4 teaspoon of priming sugar per bottle dissolved in equal parts hot water. When dissolved it measures out to be 1 1/8 teaspoon of the liquid per bottle. I use one of the syringes that come with chidren's...

    Partial Bottling

I would just like it to sit in bulk for another 2 weeks or so. However, I would like to try a few bottles soon. I also need to clean some bottles over the next few weeks so I can bulk bottle it. Thanks, I plan on feeding the racking cane through the stopper and barely cracking the top open...

    Partial Bottling

I have a Pale Ale that has been in the primary for 5 weeks. I want to bottle some but not all this week. Is it possible to siphon a gallon or so off the 5 gallons and not have any ill effects to the remaining 4 gallons? It is being stored in the garage and i don't think it is getting above 40...
