I agree. I wouldn't put frozen anything in your wort especially frozen bottles with labels and adhesive.

Do you have the means to purchase or make an immersion chiller or counterflow chiller? I made a counterflow and it cools my 5+ gallon batches down to 70 in about 12 minutes.

Well congrats on fermentation being underway! I'm unclear what the problem with your GFCI was though. What did it do?

I had a 700ml starter of the ESB that I took off the stir plate the morning of brew day. Just left it, didn't chill it. It also settled fast. 6 hours later I decanted most of the liquid and poured the rest into my fermenter. It kicked into fermenting by the next morning!

Similar to yeast washing I stored a portion of this yeast from the smack pack into a mason jar of pre-boiled water to store it.

I unfolded mine old IC out on the floor in the living room then wrapped it around my keg for a CFC. Worked great.

I'd make an IC. The 1/2 tubing should be really efficient for it. I have a 3/8 CFC that works great but if I had 25' of 1/2" I'd just make an IC.

I only have a have about a dozen brews under my belt but this is one of the tastier ones. I used way more dry hops than what is called for and I really like it. I used 2oz in 5gal and left it in the keg. It just keeps getting better and better every day!

Tried mine on a batch last weekend for the first time and it worked great! Cooled 5 gallons down to 68 in just under 15 minutes. Very happy with this chiller.
