Oxyclean and off taste and smell

I just learned this lesson the hard way. This advice also has merit with PBW.

    Starsan turned cloudy in keg

Ok, time for a follow up. The original issue was still somewhat present when using PBW. The cloudy starsan was the clue I needed to realize that my problem was inadequate rinsing. Starsan does turn a little cloudy when I mix it up and look at it in a clear glass. I have reduced my PBW...

    Cream Ale Fizzy Yellow Beer

Very nice recipe. I liked the US-05 version better since it seemed to be cleaner with more of a German taste. Definitely a brewover which I will kick up a notch next time! Thanks Yooper!

    Starsan turned cloudy in keg

After it was mostly dry, I did not find any white powder and the surface was very shiny. I will check tonight if the surface changes which may be due to the stainless repassivating. I wish I had a dry empty keg to compare to.

    Starsan turned cloudy in keg

After a 24 hr soak in PBW, I got out the keg cleaner drill attachment and gave the inside a good scrubbing. After thoroughly rinsing, I would not call it squeaky clean. I mixed up some double strength saniclean solution, shook it around, and let it soak for an hour. I drained it without...

    Starsan turned cloudy in keg

Vinegar sounds interesting. The downside is that I would need to clean again to remove the vinegar. I am thinking I need something acidic to remove the minerals. But if I can't see or feel the minerals, how do I know they have been removed? Is sqeaky clean good enough? I also have...

    Starsan turned cloudy in keg

I have had a problem with beer going bad after a week or two in the keg. I think my problem was inadequate cleaning and rinsing of Oxyclean. I have switched to PBW and I am slowly getting away from this problem. The rinsing is easier and my equipment is becoming squeaky clean again. The...

One more thing. I cover everything with a towel to avoid attention.

    driving with corny

I use the same 10g igloo water keg that i plan to serve with for the ride.

Just give it time to settle when you get there. I have done this. My keg usually has carbed in the fridge for at least two weeks and it takes about an hour for the yeast to settle back down. YMMV. Pun intended.

American Pale Ale Da Yooper's House Pale Ale

Very nice recipe and definitely a brewover. I forgot the flameout hops but it was delicious anyway! Thanks for sharing!

    Convertible NG/LP Burners

My NG pressure is described as 4 inches of water column. The pressure will affect the performance of the burner. I have not found a burner that the specs indicate will operate on this pressure and boil 12 g in a reasonable amount of time. If you specify your pressure and how much you want to...

    South Florida Hop Growing

These Sri Lanka Weevils eat a lot. I have several large leaves which are half gone. That is a good portion on the first year hops.
