    Blue Moon Clone

Thanks Wayne! That link just took me back to the same spot for some reason. But i found the post number and printed it out. I will make it to the recipe that you had in post #429 and see how I like it. I'm sure it will be the closest i have come yet to Blue Moon as all the other "kits" i have...

    Cold weather fernenting

From my experiences the lower the ferment temp the better the beer taste in the end.

Imperial Stout Russian Imperial Stout (2011 HBT Competition Category Winner)

Well I made this beer last week Thursday and all went well, except i didn't even come close to the Final Gravity. I hit 1.080 with an efficiency of 60%. I will have to work on that somehow. I also took 2.5 gallons of second running's...never did take the SG but guessing its pretty low. Going to...

So the grains have arrived and i picked up the yeast (Wyeast London Ale 1028). Going to make a starter today. Just a few questions as this will be my first all grain that is not a kit from Austin Homebrew. 1. Does anyone have this already in a program like Brewtarget or beersmith that they want...

Will These Temps Work For A Lager Fermentation

I have a starter I made (first one) and have enough yeast as per yestcalc.com. I will be pitching the yeast at 65ish. Then putting it straight into the fridge. I don't really have a way to slowly warm it up, so I will have to hope for the best when I move it to the basement. I have a Belgian Wit...

Will These Temps Work For A Lager Fermentation

In sure that's what will happen. Im to impatient to let it sit, plus a sample here and there turns into an empty keg. Haha What are your thoughts on taking it to 65 at 1.020?

Will These Temps Work For A Lager Fermentation

Thanks for the reply! I was planing on taking it out for a Diacetyl rest when it hits about 1.020. Not sure if that is too high or not. Starting gravity will be around 1.052 Then I plan to keg it and crank the fridge back down to its normal setting and let it lager for a couple months....If...

Will This Work For A Lager Fermentation?

I'm going to put the Octoberfest in a keg and turn the keg fridge to normal temps and let it lager beside his friend Belgian Wit I should have said that the fridge is as low as it goes with the compressor still turning on.

Will This Work For A Lager Fermentation?

Hello all, I am planning on using my keg mini fridge to ferment an Octoberfest Lager on Monday, but I'm not sure if the temp will work. Im guessing that it will, but just want some input from the pros. The bottom of the fridge is 43 and the top of the Carboy is 50. (6-10C) The yeast...

    Making a starter...first time

Well I did the 2nd step anyways. I kinda wonder if I burnt some of the DME when boiling it. If that's even possible. After I decanted it the remains smelled good. I probably wont pitch this. Looks like I will be getting some new yeast Tuesday.

    Making a starter...first time

Ya there was some black stuff prior to cold crashing. Sanitizing process was probably the best I have done. Everything got starzan multiple times. It smelled fine prior to cold crashing, I will do as you say after I decant it. I wonder if I can just try to siphon out the good white...

    Making a starter...first time

Good to know, gives me hope that mine will still workout. Going to do the 2nd step today. Hoping that will take off faster then the first one did. Might even do a 3rd step if this one works well. Ah the joys of Home brewing!!!
