    Is my secondary infected?

I have had the same thing happen for me with my lagers, when I dry hop in secondary I get some more activity. Not sure why that is but I think your beer is fine and getting better.

    Is this worth the money?

its pricey but thats just how those systems are its not a rip off but like billl says you can get by with much less. That would be great for making 10 gallon batches and it looks pretty bad ass. If you have the money than why not you might even be able to talk him down a little.

    All Grain equipment question

My economy kettle the handle broke off and I dropped 5 gallons of almost boiling wort all over the floor. It was stainless steel but I guess you get what you pay for ($70). Maybe convert a Keg those handles are solid and its a fun project.

    when to prune

I have two plants about 4 feet from each other one is growing really well and the other has not moved at all and is still really close to the ground. IT doesn't look like it is dying or sick but it also is not growing. Should I try to prune it a little or add anything to it. The other one has...

    Worried new brewer!!

If you you were making an IPA it might not hurt to dry hop it a little more.

Using lager yeast at room temp; permissible?

My house is generally two cold for ales (between 55 and 60) and I was making nice beer without actually lagering the beer down at the 40 range. Maybe use some ice packs just before it gets to high krausen to help keep the temp down.

    Hops Side Shoots

yeah get rid of that, focus on two shoots from your rizome when it grows about 2 ft, than trim the rest down. You want all the energy of the plant on those one or two bines (the "vines" if your hops). Than like said above take a shovel and "trim" the roots.

    Should I?

Be wary, the handles on my kettle gave out before anything else. Very sketchy having a kettle break and drop 7 G of hot boiling wort on the way to the cooling tub.

How do you keep temperature low in the summer (for low ester production)

also you might need need to run the fans at night 5 gallons takes alot of energy to eat it up in the ester range. Turning the fan off at night in a water bath should be fine. At least that is my method during the summer. I live in a tent with limited access to elec so i only run the fan in the...

Any issues with throwing used grain into the yard?

I use it as mulch esp in the winter. I start to spread it around the plants or trees and if nothing eats it after a few rains its free mulch. If you don't live in the city throw it out side and let nature do its thing. Compost, chicken feed, pig feed, or mulch.

Final Gravity Reading before or after dry hopping

i just pour from the bottle into my hyrdrometer case take a reading than drink it.

    What went wrong?!

what kind of bottom are you using on your MT is it metal or rubber, my rubber one would collapse at over 14lbs of grain and cause stuck sparges upgraded to a copper pipe and now everthing works great. Rice hulls are awesome and drain slow for a while than you can open it up but let it run slow...

    How to Store Spent Grain

I let it dry on the counter but or outside but i live in a very dry climate FL might not provide the same situation but its worth a try, lots of those recipes don't call for that much spent grain so experimenting would never hurt

    keg wont carb

Yeah if your serving your beer warmer which I do because I don't have a kegerator (about 55F) you definetly need a longer line. I also shake my keg to help it force carbonate which has helped me.

1st time brewing - no sign of fermentation?

Sometimes the airlock doesn't fit right or the lid on your bucket, but it sounds like its going off and doing well, don't worry about it
