    questions

So when a bottle of beer says brewed with brett does that mean it has other things like lacto and pedio? Also when you find a bottle of beer brewed with wild yeasts are all of them still alive generally and able to culture? Some one said brett doesn't make the beer sour then what exactly does it...

    Break into the fermentor

So how are you getting rid of the hot break, just through the boiling process or do you remove it by skimming the foam off the top?

    Break into the fermentor

    Break into the fermentor

What are the negative effects of dumping your break from the wort into your fermentor? Or is it a good thing to dump all that stuff in.

Converting from pin to ball lock

I found some pin lock kegs but all my stuff if for ball lock so I was going to convert them over. It looks pretty easy just unscrewing one and replacing it with the other. How much will it cost though for one keg and is that all i need to do?

Is it supposed to smell like this?

Rotten eggs is not a good smell and if the beer tastes sour than yeah I would say you got something in there. I would try again and focus harder on sanitation. What kind of yeast did you use and did you make a starter or revive the yeast? Some lager yeasts give off a sulfer smell during...

    Botched sparge?

I think you should be fine without having that 1-2 in of water on top. I don't think you are going to get to your target SG though but your making beer. Try to get as much water in there as possible though.

    Keggles vs Coolers question

Use a down jacket from good will or old sleeping bag with a belt cheap easy fix. but if you have the kegs might as well keep them.

Bringing a yeast starter back to life

I generally make the yeast starter a day or two before I brew not any earlier. I have saved extra runnings from my mashtun and stored for use as starters as much as a month later. If you do make a starter before hand and put it in the fridge let it sit out till it reaches room temp giving it a...

Best practices for carbing in a Corny keg at 70F+?

Yeah I kegged at the warmer end of the scale (55-70) and its hard to not have foamy beer or flat beer. The only time I never had a problem was when the kegs were in the basement on 12 ft of hose coming up to the kitchen. about to experiment with my first jockey box hopefully that will work for...

    Jockey Box and kegerator similarities

So basically if I want to make a jockey box all i need to do i drill holes in a cooler and all I need is the same tap set up you would use for a kegerator excepts its attached to a stainless steel coil? I was going to turn my fridge into three taps but there was no room and I am wondering what...
