    I use this pump to recirc hot oxy all the time, I use it for my plate chiller and to clean my kegs, and to clean my keggarater beer lines.     Is it Necessary to bake your Plate Chiller

    Don't fear the chiller! But, treat it with respect :) Using a cheap eBay garden pump ($10) I recirc hot oxy for half an hour then soak in starsan before every brew. It takes longer to clean than it does to chill!

    Anyone using High Gravity's EBC II Control?

    I'm using one of these: Electric Kettle Controller - High Gravity and really like it! The folks at High Gravity are great to deal with as well. Highly recommended!

    Some Uses for a Submersible Pump

    Me too! I bought a cheap pond pump off of ebay and use it to clean my plate chiller. Couldn't be easier! I don't need it to pre chill my plate chiller, the water here in Duluth is COLD!

    Can I get in trouble for this?

    Even stranger is that in Utah you can't serve beer, (or home brew) from a container larger than 2 liters. No kegs, unless licensed by the state!

    I also have a malt mill and find that if I insert the shaft to far into the drill it wont grip. Back it out a bit and try it again. ........

    Plate Chiller Celaning/Sanitizing

    I also back-flush, but I use a cheap $12 submersible garden pump. Cal P80 Mag-Drive Pump (This one can be found for less on Ebay!) Works great! I use hot oxyclean and pump it for about half an hour, then flush. No need for a $100+ pump just for cleaning your plate chiller!

    I ferment everything in 6 gal better bottles. I use fermcap in every batch. Never have a blow off, I'd hate to lose the beer!
