    Keezer / Fermentation Chamber?

I have a 7 cubic foot chest freeze, that I'm currently using for my keg and other bottled beer around 38 degrees. Unfortunately my old fermentation fridge kicked the bucket, so I no longer have a separate fridge for that. I don't really want to buy a new fridge and temp controller at this...

Leaving my keg's beer line attached?

    Awesome! Thanks!

Leaving my keg's beer line attached?

oh really? even if i'm just leaving it at serving pressure - i'm not doing the 25psi shake around deal.

Leaving my keg's beer line attached?

Awesome! Thanks - just tested it - not carbed up just yet! Cool to be able to pull a sample here and again now - damn this is so much better than bottling!

Leaving my keg's beer line attached?

And no big deal to sneak a taste during the force carbonation phase?

Leaving my keg's beer line attached?

Hey guys, I have a very simple kegging setup right now - first time doing it in fact! I have my keg at temperature and have had it on co2 at the pressure indicated by BeerSmith - so I don't expect to change the pressure for serving. I'm curious about how the beer is doing - it's been on...

First Time Kegging - Force Carb Pressure Question

I guess I wasn't reading it quite right....feel like a moron. I'll just set it to 4 and leave it for a couple weeks! Thanks...I guess it's late...

First Time Kegging - Force Carb Pressure Question

Hey guys - first time racking into my keg tonight! Wow! So much better than bottling - awesome. But I'm left with a couple questions. I racked it into the keg with the beer around 62 degrees. I pumped some CO2 in and bled off for a while to get rid of any air and oxygen. Now it's sitting in...

    Brew Kettle Improvement Opinions

Awesome! Thanks guys - I'll be checking this stuff out. The sightglasses look really nice Bobby - watchin your vid now and reading more about em. Seems super useful addition for a brew kettle. The side pickup might be all i need i guess, but I'm gonna checkout jaybird's stuff as well before...

    Brew Kettle Improvement Opinions

I have a 60qt brew kettle from AHS (Austin Homebrew Supply) I have added in a ball valve at the bottom from bargain fittings and that's my only embellishment at this point. What are y'alls thoughts on these improvements: Side Pickup (SIDE pickup - Weldless version drain / dip tube SS kit) -...

    BeerSmith Doesn't Match Book's Recipe

Awesome! Thanks yooper. Glad to know I'm in that ballpark! Switching to Rager was a great change. I'm not to the point where I'm buying "sacks of malt" just yet. I'm doing all grain, but batch by batch right now!

    BeerSmith Doesn't Match Book's Recipe

My book agrees! But BeerSmith gives me 10.5 color! I'm starting to think I'm probably just being crazy picky here, I really just wanted to know if I was doing something wrong! But maybe the numbers just will never be just the same.

    BeerSmith Doesn't Match Book's Recipe

Oh Interesting! Ok - so switching to Rager it bumped it up to 13.2. I have it set to calculate the boil size. It figures 9.54gal for this brew. Jamil figures 8.6g. However even if I uncheck the calculate brew volume box and set it to Jamil's number - it gives me the same IBU for some reason...

    BeerSmith Doesn't Match Book's Recipe

Yeah - I dialed up the Fuggles AA to 5% just like the recipe calls for. So I'm just not sure - I'm sure hops efficiency is set at 100% by default, right?!

    BeerSmith Doesn't Match Book's Recipe

Maybe I just don't know enough about the evaporation rate/headspace/ all the fun stuff on my equipment as I'm just using the standard 15GSS/10g igloo preset that game with BeerSmith. I guess at some point I'll need to go through all that :P Thinking more about it - that seems a likely culprit.

    BeerSmith Doesn't Match Book's Recipe

Hey guys, I love using BeerSmith, but I'm a novice with it. I have input the Scottish Heavy 70/- from Brewing Classic Styles (pg 127). I set the brew size to 6g. Chose the 15 Gallon pot with a 10gallon cooler (same sizes to my equipment). I have set my Total Efficiency to 70%...

What to buy next - Keg or New Brew Stand?

Awesome. Just ordered a fully keg setup with one keg, picnic tap, co2 tank, etc. I also bought a new burner. Decided to go for it without the stand and all that. Now I have to find a chest freezer...craigslist here I come. Thanks for the advice.

What to buy next - Keg or New Brew Stand?

Maybe you guys are right - get a better, but not crazy expensive burner. Recycle a chest freezer and a keg kit. Build up slowly. Thanks - can't wait to keg my first batch!

What to buy next - Keg or New Brew Stand?

Thanks for the answers guys. Yeah, I could get a 100k BTU Banjo at my LHBS for $84, so cheaper than the Blichmann Top Tier burner and 30k more BTUs. But, I really want to "future proof" my purchases as much as possible, so going with the blichmann now, would mean I could just pop it on the top...

What to buy next - Keg or New Brew Stand?

Sounds like kegging is the way to go. Craigslist notification is pretty genius actually! Very cool. Instead of getting the full brew stand, I might get the top tier burner: http://www.williamsbrewing.com/TOPTIER-FLOOR-STANDING-BURNER-P2428C87.aspx and then I can just buy the adapter for the...
