I thought so too. It grew up over the fence about 4 or 5 feet and was growing 4 inches per day at the fastest. I want to say the fence is about 12 feet tall. Also tons of buds on it right now. Can't wait for harvest.
My two cascades my friend gave me the one on the right is monstrous for a first year. The second on the left has had issues since I planted it but is finally starting to show some life and send out health shoots. Also these are both grown in an earthtainer, next year I'm gonna separate them and...
I'm very interested in this also, but all places I've seen are showing $20 a lb for wet hops. Ehh I might take that risk for the possibility of owning my own amarillo plant.
If you use thick round magnets (~1/4") on the bottom and real thin rare earth magnets on the top it works perfectly. Mine is slightly tilted forward, but it works real well.
Other option for a few years is an Earthtainer. Costs about $40 to build (maybe). I have 2 rhizomes I planted in one this year. One is doing amazingly well growing up my 15ft fence and still going over to the neighbors yard. The other not so much, only about 6 ft tall and has some issue. Also...
Let em go. The top portion of the hop plants grow most of the cones from what I've read. Mine reached the top and kept growing another 4 or so feet over to my neighbors yard (we have a 12 or so foot tall fence between us) I just pulled them back over and am letting it grow back down. Really just...
Brewing seems to be a chore to me when it is 100+ outside. I've found that brewing larger batches takes some stress out of it for me. Less brewing and more beer, but it does take more equipment. Still I can't wait til it cools off some.
I did, but the pictures aren't the clearest (well neither are mine but you get the idea). I was just wanting to see what people thought before I went crazy buying different types of fertilizer and guessing what might be wrong.
Ok so I have 2 plants in one Earthtainer and one has been growing like a bat out of hell (3" a day for the past few weeks) and the other is barely at 2 feet. The one at 2 feet has something wrong with it and the leaves are yellowing in a blotchy pattern and shriveling up. I think I'm starting to...
Finally got better pictures of what I think might be eating my hops. Any ideas on what this guy is and if he is beneficial or bad? As the title says I have him hostage in a jar and am not gonna let him out til I know if he is good.
Used to pay $12 for a 20lb exchange, but I was good friends with a guy at a gas company. Look for a nexair, airgas or similar company to you and they usually are extremely cheap. They do prefer exchanging tanks which also allows you to never worry about a cert.
Shallow plates of BMC seems to be a pretty unanimous decision around here for slugs. As for the caterpillars that is not quite as cut and dry. I'm still in my first crop but a soap solution seems the best to me, I'm still trying to figure out what is eating mine before spraying it.
Well first off I've done a ton of researching on this to no avail. My hops plant (think it's cascade) has been growing well since I planted it a month ago when a friend gave it to me. I have been noticing a few leaves with holes in them, shown below. I couldn't find anything on any of the...
I'm interested in buying a bag of extract since I still haven't gone all grain and maybe interested in some hops depending on what is available.
