    Help with all grain

I use an imersion chiller and have warm faucet water however I put the boil kettle into an ice bath while using the chiller. The icy cold bath helps cool the wort below 70 deg within 45 minutes worst case.

    Leaky System

Thanks for the info, guys. I kinda figured it was a temperature thing but I had battled a leak earlier in the day so it made me second guess. I'm new to kegging but things seem to be going well.

    Leaky System

Hi Guys. I have a new keg system in a chest freezer with a Ranco controller. I have a 3 gallon keg with new O Rings and a 5 pound tank. I checked the system for air leaks using a bucket full of water so I know the keg is pretty tight. I tightened up the connection to the bottle however after 24...

    Forced Carbonation, take three

I am a new kegger and I will be starting out using 3 gallon kegs. Do the pressure and line length rules still apply to a 3gallon vs 5 gallon keg?

    Of Fermenting and Kegging

I am not sure which category this belings in but I am beginning to Keg on this batch and I have a question about fermenting. Do you need to hit your FG before the beer hits the keg? Supposing the FG is still a bit high and you are ready to keg, what is the conventional wisdom on that...

    Swamp Cooler - need ice?

I use a stick on thermometer and read direclty off of that. I fill my plastic bucket and keep the water below the thermo which is mounted about half way up the fermenter. I guess you can just find a process that works best for you but youcant beat the swamp cooler.

    Swamp Cooler - need ice?

I usually dump ice in mine since I don't want to blow a fan. I can keep the fermenter temp pretty stable by checking it twice a day. The first few days of fermenting are the hardest to control temp wise but the rest is smooth sailing.

Is It Drinkable or Should I Pitch It?

More importantly, buy a thermometer made of metal.

    First AG...I'm worried...doesn't look right???

Wrap a towel around that fermenter to keep the sunlight out.

    Bottle Caps

I figured. I am slowly learning to forget everything that I learned in my Joy Of Homebrewing book!

    Bottle Caps

I normally boil my bottle caps for a few minutes before bottling however I was wondering why I can't just soak them in Star San. Would this not accomplish the same thing?

24 hours, no fermentation [Thermal Shock and WLP051??]

This is typical for WLP yeast. This is why I switched to dry yeast, no starters and no lag.

First brew - ran into a bit of an issue. Help please!

Not so fast, there may still be a problem. I suggest that you send me a few bottles of the finished product for inspection! Please include some pretzels and peanuts.

AAAHHH! Help me solve Band Aid Taste

I finally solved my band Aid taste by using carbon filtered water in place of the Crystal Geyser bottled water that I had been using. There is a store that sells purified water without chlorine and it did the trick.

Fruit Beer Strawberry Alarm Clock v3.0 (Strawberry Blonde)

I have this recipe in primry now and it looks and smells great. My Questions: 1)I was thinking about going to secondary after 7 days of primary. Is that ok or should I go on SG readings? 2)I have 4lbs of cleaned and quartered strawberries in the freezer now. I am going to dump them...
