Lol! Love it how this site is auto modded! My bull**** was asterisked out!

    Grainfather!!

I'm a tech guy but confounded by the myriad differences in mash and sparge volumes...I mean I can work easily in Imperial, metric and US measures but the discrepancies are bull****...being new to all grain makes this important to do baseline calculations and scares most people off. I'm sticking...

    Grainfather!!

I have played with on iOS... Not impressed at all, as nothing saves...you apparently cannot do incremental saves on any version. Very disappointing, as this was a cornerstone of their pitch. I still love the gear but the software sucks hard!

    FastFerment conical fermenter??????

Yes, I do the same..although both my wall mounted FFS have been relegated to making the boss's wine...couldn't fit them in my lagering fridge...

    Grainfather!!

Never gave a lot of thought to shuffling my GF around when full but jumped on the bandwagon. In Canada, Canadian Tire had these 16" plant dollies made of polycarbonate with locking casters for $14.99. It claims a weight up to 180 lbs. so it'll more than do the trick. Another 12" metal one was...

Excellent! That makes sense...gelatine will knock the hop haze down. I usually cold crash, use finings or worst case scenario cold plate filter - but only on light beers :-)

Looks like chill haze...if so gelatine won't touch it. Cold crash your beer and use 1/2 tbsp gelatine and 1/2 cup water heated to 150F...I did this in 10 second increments in the microwave and dumped it into my carboy. Any time I've done this, my beer has come out crystal clear.

Of course it will be drinkable. 170 is kind of high for mash temps and likely played havoc with your sugars conversion. But hey, single infusion at 167 isn't too far off so while the style might not be what it was profiled as, it most certainly will be drinkable. As they often acronym...

    Grainfather!!

Well, just prepped the GF sparge heater and MJ hop basket with its first cleaning routine. I'm funny as I like to work in metric, US and Imperial...metric for weight and volume and Fahrenheit for temps soooo...here's an approximate time/ heat calibration for the sparge vessel. I set the dial...

Only on first gen Grainfathers...don't think they made it to North America.

    Grainfather!!

I actually never bothered using it undressed as I knew the Reflectix and neopreme jacket would work better. My hot water heater, diving experience and mothers tea cosies all taught me that lol. Koozies, keg wraps etc. were all part of my experience too :-) All said and done the GF would surely...

    Grainfather!!

I have used both inside in my kitchen and didn't see much if a difference in boil times. I was hoping to fit my Grainjacket over the Reflectix coat but it was much too tight. While the homemade jacket worked well, I liked the tailor made appearance of the Graincoat. The price wasn't a big deal...

    Grainfather!!

I picked up a Grainfather Sparge Vessel/HLT as well. I haven't used it yet but rigged up a silicone hose with a quick release butterfly clamp for the valve end. Why couldn't you simply put a valve on the hose end to control the flow rate coming out of the hose to have water trickle flow at a...

    Grainfather!!

From what I understand, an STC 1000 can be plugged into the Grainfather and will run it...even better than the STC 200 stock controller. The 1000 can be "hacked" using software and a gizmo interface called an arduino board so it then can be programmed to do step mashes and thus more fully...

    Grainfather!!

Did you try the reset button on the bottom of the GF? It's the only thing that possibly be wrong - other than the controller being facked...and THAT would truly suck, being a new machine and starting a brew :_( PS. My second thought was that you're in Celsius...

    Grainfather!!

Exactly what I was thinking. In fact, he has the same kettle I used for my extracts and I was going to rig it up...until I remembered the telescopic sparge adjustment :-0 PS - and same heatstick lol.
