    Switch to E-Brewing - Opinions, Pro's & Con's

Made the switch last year and love it! Being able to brew indoors when it is -20F outside (MN) is fantastic. +1 on the brewcommander. Very happy with affordable controller. Cheers!

Cutting the rubber seal of a mini fridge

Maybe just run the tubes into the fridge between the seal and the fridge and get a latch for the door. I know they have latches for refrigerators. Wont be a perfect seal but should help get the job done.

    How cold is too cold?

Freezing an eisbock now in MN, been going for a few days. Wish it would get just a touch colder to speed things up but definitely been removing a bit of tasty beer-slush.

    Basement Brewery Build

    DYI fermentation chamber

Awesome work! My first fermentation chamber was a wall AC unit in a boxed-off area. Yours is much more polished and looks like it will work well! Cheers!

    Partial boil pitching temps

Seems like you are on the right track, then! Just make sure to use the probe on the inkbird (or other thermometer) to get an idea of the temperature so you have a starting point for your next brew. Also, remember that fermentation is exothermic, so pitching at the right temp is important, but...

    Partial boil pitching temps

Any idea at what temp you pitched at the first two brews? Maybe add the water to get to your full fermenter volume (if you have an idea of the volume you will need after boiling) into the boil kettle and then put the kettle in an ice bath or use a wort chiller to get to 62. Alternatively...

Running a heating element without a controller: Can it be done?

Just started electric brewing myself and believe you will want a controller to control the power to the element. Otherwise, it will always be on 100% power. For heating strike water that is fine, but you will want some control over your boil, especially for the hot break so you don't boil over...

    Reiterated Mashing

How did you end up doing it? Sparge or no sparge? And did your gravity come out ok?

    Bottled water

Is there a place to get RO water near you? I bring 2 5 gallon carboys to the grocery store and fill up at their tap there.

    Reiterated Mashing

As you described above, you are draining the mash tun into the boil kettle after the first mash and essentially repeating the process? Sorry if I am misunderstanding your proposal. But, if that is the case I think you just end up with 8 gallons of wort with half the gravity you want. If you...

    Reiterated Mashing

Wow, I can't believe I'm just learning about this now, thanks for posting! I did find another thread about this saying neither mash was sparged. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/threads/my-reiterated-mash-experience.659513/ Hope this helps! Cheers!

    Help with Cucumber Mint Saison

I have a lemon basil pale ale on tap right now and used 3oz of fresh basil. Big kick of basil aroma and a refreshing flavor. Used the stems and all, just chopped it up into a santized paint strainer bag and "dry-basiled" for 3 days at room temp. Mint may overpower the cucumber, so maybe use...

    Enlarging Draft Tower Shank Holes

Do not have a draft tower, but I would suggest a step drill bit to drill through the stainless. Good luck on the upgrades!

    CO2 Tank

Did a search, and no you do not want to lay the tank horizontally. Inside the tank is liquid co2 under pressure, and you want to avoid having the liquid get to the nozzle. Lots on here about keezer builds, hope you can find an alternative. Cheers!

Adding Multiple Water Hookups/Connections In Garage from Existing Water Softener and Heater

I installed a tee from my cold water line (before water heater) and hot water line (right after hot water heater) using Sharkbite fittings. Home depot sells them and I have never done any plumbing but worked well and were easy to install just with a tube cutter. Then I ran PEX tubing from the...

Brew commander probe in existing 1/2" FNPT

Congrats, just did my first brew on the brew commander and loved it! I believe you will need the optional adapter they mention in the manual. Part number is TOP-007-01. Hope this helps! Cheers!

    Fermentation overflow

Are you using a standard bucket with a red grommet? I usually just stick a piece of tubing in there and run it into a bottle filled with sanitizer. Can't remember thr tubing size though sorry.
