    Hello all.

I always bottled. At first I would transfer the finished beer to a bottling bucket that had a priming solution via an auto siphon. Then bottle. Worked ok for a long while. Then I started to read about oxygen contact with finished beer can cause problems. So to try to minimize oxygen exposure I...

Glad it’s setup and going. Happy brewing.

    eBIAB experiences?

Good to know there is some improvement in the heating. Just to be clear on how you reached this improvement, Are the outlets now at 240 volts? If so then supplying the correct voltage got you there.

    eBIAB experiences?

Yeah, I’m an old guy. We talked 110 and 220, but I guess the outlets are wired wrong?

    eBIAB experiences?

The picture of the box looks like it was added on diy. Nothing wrong with that but is it right? What is the actual voltages at each outlet? Is it the correct voltage for the unit per manufacturer instructions? The reason I ask this is because I keep seeing you refer to outlet amperage. You can...

    Ritebrew

Ritebrew is my go to. Always get fast shipping here to Indiana. I have screwed up orders (Probably due to the sampling of my work while shopping) and it only took a quick email to them to get them corrected. They don't have a large selection of hardware but that's fine for people already setup...

    Frozen yeast bank procedure

I agree with the pressure canned way. The temp is high enough in that process to kill Botulism and it is not in water bath canning. But if the water bath canned wort is stored in the freezer and thawed properly it would be safe. As for the situation "What if a no chill brewer decided to start...

    Frozen yeast bank procedure

I agree with safe canning practices but Botulism needs the proper environment to grow. It's not going to grow in the freezer. If the wort was water bath canned and stored at room temperatures then the concern for Botulism is real especially if the ph is too high. We blanch and freeze fruits and...

    Northern Brewer - Buyer Beware

    Northern Brewer - Buyer Beware

It's a good store. My daughter used to pick up stuff for me when she was in school in Indy. Saved me the postage whenever she was coming home. I would buy the order online and she would go there and pick it up. Always treated her great. Hope they can be around for many more years.

    Northern Brewer - Buyer Beware

Could be true that a lot of customers would not come back to the site, but how many are coming back after long delays in the order with little or no communication. Plus they are mad and spread their dissatisfaction all over social media.

    Northern Brewer - Buyer Beware

I agree with this. The previous business owner had the website up and running for everyone to see and order from. Many people don’t even know of the transition in ownership that is happening. It’s not that hard to let everyone know when they go to the website that things are changing and we as...

    BIAB - For amateurs?

The people that say BIAB is for amateurs are just jealous that we can make as good or better beer with less cost and equipment than the three vessel setups. My beer got so much better when I went from extract to all grain using BIAB. I don’t think I’ll do anything differently.

    Astounding Beer Research

They’ll never make tobacco illegal. There’s too much tax money to collect. Same goes for why pot is being made legal. Alcohol is in the same category. Protected just because there is so much tax to collect.

I used to smoke long long time ago and quit when we started having kids. It was a great health and economic decision. Now I have way more money for brewing!

Try INKBIRD's carbon monoxide detector and portable carbon dioxide detector for free, suitable for brewing environment detection! !

The portable detector looks interesting. Don’t have to rely on an outlet so the detector can be where I am. I’m interested!

    Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

I grew up in the country with various different heating equipment. Propane, wood, coal, fuel oil, ect. None of these heaters were perfect and all could have killed us. The thing we had in our favor that could have saved us from co poisoning was houses were all drafty. Poor or no insulation...

An appeal to Northeast U.S. Homebrewers

My apologies. Should have looked at who started the discussion first. Wasn’t putting you down just saying what I do. If I lived closer to you then I’d be buying from you because of geography and shipping costs.
