    CraftBeerPi - Raspberry Pi Software

Hey - any advice on this? I tried to use the SD Card Copier utility today and kept getting a couple errors. After I initiated the copy, first I'd see a popup that said that the device had been disconnected without ejecting, then right after I get an error that it is unable to create a partition...

    Hornindal....underpitch to maximize fruity esters?

Thanks, I'll give that a try. I'm not exactly sure how to do the math for your pitch rate formula. Any advice on how to apply that?

The Stasis - A glycol system designed for homebrewers - Pre-Order now for $599

I'm assuming these can chill only? No way to raise the temp if ambient temps + exothermic activity of fermentation won't get to desired temp? I'm thinking kveik yeasts and the potential desire to ferment at something like 90 degrees F......

    Questions about eBIAB systems

I second the false bottom from brewhardware.com. The feet are SS bolts that screw into nuts welded to the bottom. You can swap in different length bolts for whatever size feet you need. I bought an assortment at the HW store (all stainless) so that I have whatever length I need. I actually set...

Help me build a low stress e-brewery

I think you're fine with a standard ripple element, but I really wanted to go induction. When I get everything fully operational, I plan to post a thread about the process, how I got it working and what I'd recommend. I'm pretty confident the craftbeerpi will work, but I have parts arriving...

Help me build a low stress e-brewery

Yep, I've heard others say the same thing about boil coils. It's actually part of the reason I wanted to go induction. That's a low-mounted as you can go for an element!

Help me build a low stress e-brewery

I'm in the process of migrating to something exactly like this, except that I'm using 10G kettles since I have no plans to brew 10G batches (I have trouble getting through 5G in a timely manner). I was already doing a pseudo 3 vessel with a 10G kettle, a cooler MT and and another cooler to...

Help me build a low stress e-brewery

A pair of 15G kettles would allow you to do 5G eBIAB batches using just one, or do bigger 10G batches using the pair as a K-RIMS rig. You would need: 2 15G kettles, one set up with a heating element, the other with a false bottom of some sort (could use BIAB bag) A controller. A one vessel...

    Hornindal....underpitch to maximize fruity esters?

I had it in my head that I read somewhere to underpitch to get the best fruity elements out of this yeast. I am planning a NEIPA this weekend using it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Popping a hole in my Fermonster

While its fermenting, put something under the spigot side (a couple magazines, I use layers of cardboard) so the fermenter sits at an angle. The the true is offset away from the spigot.

    Would you rather...

Kettle RIMS (your 2 vessel recirculating mash system) is a pretty nice rig, but to do it right would be way more expensive than simply adding whirlpool capability. You can do that pretty cheaply by adding a pump (which you'd need for a recirculating system anyway) a hose (for flow return to the...

    Anyone know what this is?

Actually, many of the newer style faucets do not have screw on aerators. Pretty much all of the pull out wand style ones do not have one.

Dry NEIPA - - How to inject lactose into keg without opening?

I don't think I'd inject through the liquid Post. If you do that, you need something to follow it up or a good chunk will just stay in the dip tube and come out with the first pour. I'd use either the gas post or the relief valve.

    BIAB Advantages

I'll never get away from a pump for a number of reasons: 1) It speeds up the chilling...significantly 2) I brew a fair number of NEIPAs and I whirlpool post-boil hop additions 3) Whirlpooling keeps a lot of trub out of my fermenter 4) I pump to my fermenter using one of these to aerate. Gravity...

BIAB Disadvantages to go with the Advantages thread.

If you're step mashing BIAB by adding boiling water, you're not using a single vessel system anymore, are you?

    BIAB Advantages

TL;DR: this is a false statement. I despise this type of statement. It's not the only way, nor is it universally the best way. What's best for any given person is the method that produces beer that they like with a process they enjoy. So many act like simple, fast, easy is end-all-be-all of...
